- Hi this is just a welcome message. As a new user/editor you may find some of the above links useful. Polargeo (talk) 09:18, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Sources
The sources you removed from Bosnian War with this edit may be unreliable in your eyes but by wikipedia standards they are very reliable sources and should not be removed. The issue of balance is very important and I agree that the article is not currently well balanced but please balance it with well sourced contributions. The whole Al-Quaeda thing is interesting but it is a very "academic" debate held long after the events. It may be much more useful to highlight the role of islamist fighters and state the ties with the present day Al-Quaeda rather than to try to show that Al-Quaeda is specifically involved. This is very much a post 9/11 view re-evaluating events. On the other hand I agree there was stuff about the JNA specifically related to war crimes that did not have good sources and you were right to highlight this. However, there are sufficient sources to show their involvement in the war and so this should remain. Polargeo (talk) 09:31, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. I agree about everything you wrote about Al-Qaeda, but not with what you wrote about JNA because I was not talking about JNA only. I put CITATION NEEDED after VJ which means Vojska Jugoslavije, or Army of Yugoslavia. This army was born after collapse of Socialistic Yugoslavia in May 1992. and never had a single soldier in Bosnia since it was Army of federal state of Serbia and Montenegro. Stating that VJ commited war crimes against civilians and putting one debate, two university press releases and one health brochure as source for VJ commiting war crimes against civilians can be at least considered as nonreliable source, if not as insult of common mind. If someone that have less experiance did it I would assume that it was mistake. But it was done by very experianced wikipedian who knows history well. That means that quoting university press releases as source for very serious accusations against army of another state is not only against policy of wikipedia but also deliberate lie that KansasBear [1] is trying to place trough this article. It is wikipedias loss if such people are allowed to delete well argumented statements and place unreliable sources for such serious matters. I want to believe that we are all here to write verifyable articles, not deliberately unreliable sources. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:17, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- So remome "VJ" then not the sources. As Kansas Bear has made a mistake. Say this in your edit summary and even add this explanation onto the talkpage of Bosnian War. I will watch your talkpage from now. Polargeo (talk) 10:25, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Skanderbeg revert
Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you will enjoy your time here. I would like to explain further my revert: First in lede we enter only info that has been substantially expanded in the body of the article. Second, other languages are important if there are relevant primary sources in those languages: because as far as secondary sources are related, every one may have an interest in Skanderbeg: a book on him may exist in Iceland, that's not a reason to enter the name in Islandic language. Please feel free to bring primary Serbian sources, i.e. from 16th to 18th century and we may update the article. The name is in Albanian and Latin for now, because those are the primary sources we have. Thanks again! --Sulmues (talk) 15:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- The Albanian name is there because he was an Albanian. The Turkish sources do exist although I don't know Turkish, but someone will bring them sooner or later. Btw, at that time Turkish was written in Arabic, so what we currently have in the lede is not Turkish in Arabic script, which is what it should be. Listen, we are trying to write a good article, I don't understand how come as a new user you are here worrying about Albania all the time. Don't you have any other topics to write about? --Sulmues (talk) 17:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
September 2010
Please do not delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at Skanderbeg. Such edits are disruptive and appear to be vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Sulmues (talk) 21:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- I am giving you this warning because transporting my words from one page to another is disruptive. If I don't feel like writing on the talk page of Skanderbeg, you can't be the one transposing my words from your talkpage there. Thanks for your understanding. --Sulmues (talk) 21:33, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Albanian alphabet is incomplete, but gives a flair. The first written sentence retrieved in Albanian is considered the Formula e pagëzimit in Latin script (in 1462). The first complete book in Albanian retrieved is the Meshari of Gjon Buzuku (1555 and in Latin script again). --Sulmues (talk) 14:44, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, the church depended from the Patriarchate until 1922.--Sulmues (talk) 14:55, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- There are 5 refs on that, 4 of which are in English. --Sulmues (talk) 15:12, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- How did you hear about them? --Sulmues (talk) 16:25, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- If I were you I would use google, that's usually a good starting point. --Sulmues (talk) 16:38, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
League of Lezhe
I would like to thank you for your edits in the League of Lezhe. I understand your concerns and believe me, I hope the article was better referenced. In general those concerns come when the article has a B status. Since much of the writings in wikipedia preceding 2007 is original research or copypasting/translating from high school books, it is difficult to discern the good apples from the bad ones. Once that an article has a B status, then it's ready for a GA application (we have only 10K GA articles out of 3.4M - 1/34). It's at that point that I would have the concerns that you have. For now, all we have to do, is to increase the referencing, otherwise, changes that we make, will never be long lived to help promote an article to higher statuses, where it reaches higher levels of protection. --Sulmues (talk) 15:02, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
October 2010
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add defamatory content, as you did at Talk:Albanian National Awakening, you may be blocked from editing. Sulmues (talk) 15:16, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- I am referring to this edit which is problematic. --Sulmues (talk) 20:20, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'll try to AGF you and sorry if this warning created more confusion then anything else. In general I see a measured approach that you have, but that edit above is not called for. Everyone here, well, most of us, are trying to bring the best sources so that our countries are fairly represented. That's why there is no need to make edits such as the above. Again sorry if I created confusion. --Sulmues (talk) 20:52, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
It seems that certain editors found the 13 October 2010 a lucky day for warning others for imminent blocking. I received a similar threat.--Euzen (talk) 13:38, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: User:Antidiskriminator/Professionalization and institutionalization of history
Hello Antidiskriminator. I am just letting you know that I deleted User:Antidiskriminator/Professionalization and institutionalization of history, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. GedUK 10:09, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I forgot the script would leave this message! You can request speedy deletion of anything in your userspace using crtierion CSD:U1. Regards, GedUK 10:11, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh, hello to you!
Hi, there, mate! ... Sorry for my non-perfect English... by the way, I had studied German, and that's why I don't know to speak or write English better than this... What's a matter, why they blocked you on Wikipedia in Serbian language? Have you any plan in your mind?--Nvlado (talk) 16:41, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter. We'll learn that English perfectly if we write in it continuously. I want to write a few articles about important people from Subotica and its area. If you interested, you would be pretty helpful.--Nvlado (talk) 19:43, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- I asked you because it shouldn't be too easy to write articles about this people, not because I am not very good in English, but because some people would trying to vandalizing our contributions. Those guys are extra-nationalists and home-traitors, and they doesn't have anything to do in they miserable lives except to interfere us in our work. Tomorrow I'll check in library of Matica srpska what they have about one young lady from Subotica. It should be something, I'm sure. Also, I have a nice picture about her. I can send it to you if you want to take a look at it.--Nvlado (talk) 17:35, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- I sent you a picture, you can see it.--Nvlado (talk) 18:42, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Proposal
I have proposed that you be expelled from WPSQ for the continuous disruption that you are bringing in articles covered by that Wikiproject Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albania#Request_for_comment_for_expulsion_of_user:Antidiscriminator_from_member_of_wikiProject_Albania. Bye.--Sulmuesi (talk) 02:20, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Bernd Fischer (mathematician), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Bernd Fischer. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:30, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
FYI
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Bernd Fischer a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Arbitration Enforcement
The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose, at their own discretion, sanctions on any editor working on pages broadly related to the Balkans if the editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. The committee's full decision can be read at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia#Final decision. This is regarding your apparent refusal to accept concensus at Skanderbeg. No copyvio problems there
Well, no problem, it's still in the history of the draft, because you didn't delete the page (only an admin can do that): you just blanked the page. That page is in your user space, not in main space, so there is no harm done for copy violations. --Sulmuesi (talk) 21:43, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Can't access it now, have some firewalls, but I'll check it later. What is it about? --Sulmuesi (talk) 19:05, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'll check Frasheri if he mentions that document: I think he does, but there are so many pages for his early life that I have a headache as soon as I read the book, and the documents when he is a statesman, both direct (written to him or by him), and indirect (documents about him) are way more numerous. The whole work of Frasheri is something like 600 very dense pages. In general the early life should be improved in the article, because the main biographers give non-according version on a couple of things, such as his timing of presence in Albania, or to be fighting for the Turks. The best way to tackle that is through notes and enter there each scholar. The best way you could help is to buy a Serbian biographer, if there is any. Petkovich seems to be the most serious: it would be nice to add something prior to achieving GA status. I am also working on a couple of Italian and Turkish sources so that we have the full picture, and then we're going to be very close to a FA status, where I think we'll be ready for in 2011. For that though, I forecast, we'll need around 200 references and we're at 125 now. Thanks again! --Sulmuesi (talk) 19:30, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- I read the document of February 25 1420. The names of Gjon Kastrioti's sons are not mentioned. He stipulates the contract under himself and sons, without specifying their names. According to Frasheri (p.83) most of the historians agree that this type of document doesn't give any info on whether the sons of Gjon were with him or not (and this position is mainly based because they are not specified by name). --Sulmuesi (talk) 03:17, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks for the overall critique to the article. In the beginning you were attacking points that were very much settled, but in the last days, your contribution has completely changed and you are being extremely productive with your review, which is actually helping me improve the article. I really want to thank you for this change, because you are becoming an asset in the improvement of this article. That list will be helpful, can you please also merge in there suggestions of Cplakidas and TodorBozhinov that are in my talk page? We'll have then a full list of issues to resolve. --Sulmuesi (talk) 16:22, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Skanderbeg will definitely be remembered for his fighting skills, although he built a couple of churches. One of the castles he built was the Rodoni_Castle. For the rest he was too busy rebuilding the castles destroyed every year by Ottoman cannons. As far as Albanian Muslims to be compared to Isakovic, an equivalent would be Iljaz Hoxha. --Sulmuesi (talk) 20:26, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

The article Zehra Deović has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Ravendrop (talk) 07:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

A number of involved administrators expressed their concerns about the extremistic nature of this work (one of them here [[2]] the book is considered as part of partisan literature). Things are too obvious since the authors links Albanians with the Trojan War, creating major historical incosistencies.Alexikoua (talk) 10:25, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Translation from French
Hey Antid. I noticed that you needed some French translations. Have you tried using GoogleTranslate? It's not 100% accurate but it's good enough to give you an overall feel of what is said. Here is what I could find: [3]. If this doesn't work, maybe you should go to the available French-to-English translators: [4]. Hope that helps :) --Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 00:50, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Articles
No problem, Antidiskriminator. Interesting article. But speaking of articles, remember that in English writing, we use either an "indefinite article" (a, an), or the "definite article" (the) before almost all nouns, excluding people's names. DYK nomination of Albanian Vilayet
Hello! Your submission of Albanian Vilayet at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! — Toдor Boжinov — 22:18, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, to begin with... in the intro the vilayet is described as if it existed as an official administrative unit of the Ottoman Empire ("The Albanian Vilayet was a vilayet"). Did it really exist, de jure and de facto, with its own capital, vâli (governor) and administration? Or was it one of those formal promises of the sultan which was never put into practice?
- Seems like it was the latter to me, and this has to be made clear in the article. From what I understand, it was a proposed vilayet, an idea long persecuted by the Albanian people and agreed in principle with the sultan, but never realized in practice. — Toдor Boжinov — 15:44, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Super-vilayet
I added the word "super" because that is what the Albanian Vilayet was: an exceptional vilayet composed of four other vilayets. Cf. the Greek super-prefectures. If you think that it is somehow confusing, do remove it, but IMO its meaning (in an administrative context) is pretty clear to English-speakers. Constantine ✍ 13:33, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Barnstar
Wow, I'm not sure I have done enough to deserve this other than reviewing a multitude of Balkan-related articles on DYK, of which many have been focussed on Albania, but I'm very glad that you appreciate this! I have to say I'm very thankful for your work on articles about the Balkans as well, and I'm most impressed by the variety of topics and nations that your contributions cover. Best, — Toдor Boжinov — 13:29, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter
We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! While I do not edit in the area covered by the above board, I am aware that there has been at times controversy in articles that are, and they they have been bogged down by outside issues. The initiative to create a forum to sort through those issues which have an affect on those articles seems like a good idea, so that they can be expanded and improved. Having read the mission statement and suggested guidelines I find that the main objective is diluted in the text : to create a nuetral and unbiased articles that are divorced from a particular POV that offer a fair representation of the various interpretations of the facts. While there are more postive aspects of Albanian-Serbian relations, I'm not sure that promotion of those aspects should be a goal, but certainly should be included to give a broader understanding of those relations. To that end I would have project page state its goals more clearly within the context of encyclopedia building which would be improved by better diplomatic relations between those editors working in the area. I would suggest that making the mission statement of the board clearer Djflem (talk) 10:01, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

- There are good reasons why you don't have the integrity necessary to review that article: if you read it is preferable that the reviewer is not too close to the topic Wikipedia:Reviewing_good_articles#cite_note-0. Not only you are too close to the topic, you have been warned for it. I would say that you are on thin ice to be reported, and you have made good contributions to the Balkans topics to suffer a Balkans' ban. If I were you, I would just either withdraw from that review, or I would try for once to accept a consensus reached. --Brunswick Dude (talk) 01:18, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

- Antidiskriminator, that definition of last is true. It is a confusing word, because it could mean both ways depending on how you use it. But in the context it was used, it meant the last day = the oldest day = the day furthest from today. I hope this helps. Discussion is ongoing anyway on how to make the rule less confusing and clearer. In the mean time, do accept this cup of tea from me, and thanks for you time again! cheers. Hey Anti. I have done a copyedit on your article in preparation for reviewing it for DYK. There were some sentences I reworked that you should look over to make sure I haven't changed the meaning. Also, the last sentence in the First Balkan War is confusing: "Ismail Qemali realized that the fate of Albania will be decided in Vienna." Mr. Qemali has not been mentioned in the article, and readers probably won't know who he is (sorry if he's well-known in the Balkans, but his name is not familiar to me). That sentence should be expanded to explain who he is. Otherwise, good improvement in your writing, though still some grammar issues to improve on. Cheers, The Interior (Talk) 00:17, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks to your articles, I am now a bit better-versed in Balkan history. Was Qemali a member of the Black Society for Salvation? Or was it too secret to know. The Interior (Talk) 09:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 February newsletter
So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.
Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.
Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. You make two crucial points - the need to specify the 1992-1995 genocide and the ethnic cleansing/genocide distinction. DYK for Albanian Sanjak
On 27 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Albanian Sanjak, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the 1432 land register of the Albanian Sanjak is one of the earliest surviving Ottoman land registers? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

WikiCup 2011 March newsletter
We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 00:51, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Translation
The bolded part and the section say that because his work has similarities with Barleti's biography, some scholars dispute its originality of authorship, because they view it as summary of Barleti's work. It is also says that because the author's name wasn't added in the first edition, some considered him(Frëngu) not to be the author.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 06:10, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

- Listen, i want to help you but if you write articles like, the myth of Skanderbeg i can't take you seriously. It is similar to denying that Arkan and Lazar of Serbia where serbians. Please reconsider this statement. I really want to help you but with denying a peace of our identy it is not worth the research --Vinie007 15:26, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- And i feel really sad that you take an albanian communist (Fatos Lubonja) as a reaction on this ""Myth". Put Elsa Ballauri in article and you get even more credible.
- Some sites metion it as a deal with serbs, other with greeks. I simply don't know --Vinie007 13:02, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ok i'm fine with that--Vinie007 13:02, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Re:Lists and timelines
They are indeed eligible, and they are specifically mentioned in the DYK selection criteria (note criterion 2, point 2). If they appear on the main page, you may claim points for them as usual. J Milburn (talk) 11:44, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
