License tagging for Image:011 Megan Eden.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:011 Megan Eden.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Mermaidbway.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Mermaidbway.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:45, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:-11_Megan_Eden.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:-11_Megan_Eden.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 06:24, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Reverting edits from vandalism
editI see that you have been trying to revert vandalism on the Dancing with the Stars pages. The easiest way to do this is to undo an edit. To undo, you simply go to the article's history page and click on "undo" for the changes you want to remove. If you want to revert to a previous version (so you don't make spelling errors or other mistakes when you are fixing things), that's a little more complicated, but Help:Reverting shows you how. If you need any help, you can let me know. Thanks. TLK'in 07:32, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 06:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

WP:MUSICALS tag
editHello, And. I see that you like to edit articles on actors/actresses in musicals. Would you kindly place this tag on the talk page of each article if it isn't there already? This will help the musical theatre project to see that the article exists: {{Musicals-project|class = }} Thanks, and happy editing! -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Kendra being Linked in the cast lists
editHey. The reason I keep taking the link off of Kendra in the Broadway Replacement History of Wicked cast lists is because she's already linked further up from when she replaced Kate Reinders. See WP:OVERLINK.--Conor (talk) 16:12, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Your edit to Top-selling American Idol alumni
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Top-selling American Idol alumni, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 17:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:556687.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:556687.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:10, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Carlos.gif}
editThank you for uploading Image:Carlos.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Replaceable fair use Image:FOH-Shrk.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:FOH-Shrk.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 01:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Shrekmarquee200.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Shrekmarquee200.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:05, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:090528kristinchenoweth1.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:090528kristinchenoweth1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 01:10, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Abprofile.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Abprofile.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:10, 31 August 2009 (UTC). Copyrighted images
editThank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images, however, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. Fair use rationale for File:23993.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:23993.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Please be careful when marking minor edits
editThank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Saturday Night Live (season 36), as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Cresix (talk) 20:55, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Toy Story 3, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. Infobox
editThanks for pointng out the 2 musical theatre articles that had an upcoming production in the infobox, I have just deleted them. They were there because I simply do not have the time to monitor all of the thousands of articles on musical theatre, and apparently no one else has the time to do so either. (And new editors do not know the guidelines.) (As you can see from my talk page, I am on limited editing on Wikipedia, so I get to Wikipedia when I can.) Please feel free to delete other upcoming productions in the infobox if you see them, the WP:MUSICALS article structure is very specific on this. If you are uncomfortable deleting, drop me a note and I'll do it when I can. Thanks for asking, I enjoy these conversations.JeanColumbia (talk) 20:35, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

editThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Replaceable fair use File:Sutton-foster.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Sutton-foster.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- Wait, whut [1]? What are you saying here: you originally took that image from some other website (copyrighted and not your own); now you uploaded a copy of it to tinypic.com, so that suddenly gives you the right to claim you own it as your own work. Man, that's a new one. You don't really expect we'll buy that, do you? Fut.Perf. ☼ 19:53, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

- Ah, well, what they told you there was how to cheat about copyrights and try to avoid being found out. Please don't try that (you'd be blocked if you did). We here at Wikipedia really mean it when we say we only want clean and honest copyright stuff. You are very welcome to upload photographs that you genuinely created yourself (i.e. with your own camera), but please don't try to sneak in anything else. Fut.Perf. ☼ 21:19, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

West End cat
editHi. I removed your cat at South Pacific (musical). West End was not the original production. I think that where a show premiered on B'way and has the B'way cat, it doesn't also get the West end cat. Let me know if I'm out of date on this; if you think such shows should have both cats, let's discuss it at the WP:MUSICALS talk page and see if we can get a project-wide consensus. Critical acclaim
editHi, I was just curious about your reasoning for replacing the phrase "critical acclaim" with "universal praise" in The Lion King article? I would have said that unless a work had nothing negative said about it at all, which was not the case here, it cannot be said to have received 'universal' praise. ~ Kimelea (talk) 00:26, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
I did that for two reasons. First of all, I noticed that most editors decided to use general language for film and television articles. They are saying that the website no longer wants to use terms like "critical acclaim" or "panned". For instance, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Toy Story 3 have higher pecent ratings, 96% and 99% respectively, on Rotton Tomatoes, but their wikipedia articles no longer say that they were met with "critical acclaim". The second reason was that I saw in the article for Beauty and the Beast used to say that the film was universally praised. But now it says mostly positive reviews. And1987 (talk) 20:39, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. (Sorry, I forgot to come back and say this earlier!) The current wording looks much better. ~ Kimelea (talk) 13:16, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Main Page appearance
editHello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of highest-grossing films know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on February 25, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/February 25, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. Traditionally, the highest-grossing films have been war films, musicals and historical dramas, but franchise films have been the best performers in the 21st century, especially the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean series. The only films in the top ten that do not form a franchise are the top two, Avatar and Titanic, both directed by James Cameron. Disney has enjoyed success with its Pixar brand, of which the Toy Story films have been the best performers. James Bond, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones are still among the highest-grossing franchises, despite starting over thirty years ago. Gone with the Wind (poster pictured) was the highest-grossing film for 25 years and, adjusting for inflation, would remain so.

DYK for Cinderella (2013 Broadway production)
editOn 10 June 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cinderella (2013 Broadway production), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, which premiered on television in 1957, never played on Broadway until its 2013 production? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cinderella (2013 Broadway production). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Ephemeral statements should be written in the past-tense, as it is presumed they are no longer accurate by the time the reader reads them.
editHi, with regard to these edits [2][3], I'm hoping you'll please get on board with the use of the past tense, "had grossed" vs "has grossed". We don't say "As of yesterday, the film has grossed $222 million" we say "As of yesterday the film had grossed $222 million". "As of his 18th birthday, Joel had kissed ten girls" not "As of his 18th birthday, Joel has kissed ten girls". The information is ephemeral, fleeting. As soon as we write it, it's not likely to be accurate. That's why we use the past tense. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:35, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Speedy deletion nomination of File:The Grinch 2018 movie poster.jpg
editA tag has been placed on File:The Grinch 2018 movie poster.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Box office grosses
editHello And1987, when you edit the box office gross of a film please don't say as of 14 February 2023 (or whatever the current day is) the film made $x. Grosses published for a film are always from the previous day, and they are simply published on the next day after collecting data. You can verify this from here, only grosses as of February 13 are listed. Same on this website [4].
The only exception are Sunday grosses as sources publish them on Sunday itself as estimates. Hope this was easy to understand. Thank you. Roman Reigns Fanboy (talk) 23:43, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Accidental Revert
editHello, just to let you know I accidently reverted your recent edit to List of 2023 box office number-one films in the United States; I've reverted myself to restore it but just so you know it was a mistake when you get the revert notification! Sorry about that! CoconutOctopus talk 20:22, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Films delayed by COVID
editPlease explain this edit. I looked at the WP:RS and I did see any mention of delays caused by the pandemic. --David Tornheim (talk) 22:22, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- I assumed that what was said here in The Hollywood Reporter, "Meanwhile, the animated Tiger’s Apprentice was initially intended for theaters but will now bow on Paramount+" meant that the pandemic had something to do with it. [5] Sorry, @David Tornheim. And1987 (talk) 01:00, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. We can't assume that. A large percentage of the articles don't have any WP:RS that mentions a delay caused by COVID. So please keep that in mind when you edit there. You have quite a few edits there.02:08, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi. I saw that you made this change. Please update the ref to replace it with a ref (or refs) that specifically confirm that it actually opened in January and closed in March. The one that is there only states that that was the intention. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:07, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- I will try updating tomorrow on Tuesday. And1987 (talk) 01:49, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi. The cite you just updated still does not say that the revival has actually begun performances. Would you kindly update it when an article becomes available that states the fact definitively? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:24, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- The article was written on June 4, which was the day it began performances. "Another op'nin'—almost! A new London revival of Kiss Me, Kate begins at the Barbican Theatre June 4 ahead of a June 18 op'nin'." [6]https://playbill.com/article/stephanie-j-block-stars-in-london-kiss-me-kate-revival-beginning-june-4] Also, Stephanie J. Block's Instagram has a story of her taking her first bows during the preview. And1987 (talk) 02:17, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Remember when Covid shut down all theatre and everything was cancelled? Remember when Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark was postponed over and over again for injuries? WP:CRYSTAL explains that something that happens in the future, even if only a few hours from now, is not certain. Would you kindly update it when an article becomes available that states definitively that the revival has begun? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:03, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Can you please add a cite that confirms that the run has actually ended? All the refs currently there predate the closing. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:21, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. I'll do it. And1987 (talk) 23:36, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Cinderella
editAfter seeing the Beane version on Friday night, I came back and did a little more research, so I revised the articles for both the Beane version and the Julie Andrews (and other R&H) version. Would you please look over my changes over the past couple of days at both articles to see if I made any mistakes? BTW, I was a little surprised that despite an extra hour+ added to the original show, neither Sebastian nor Madame had any significant musical numbers (Pinkleton had rather too many). What surprised me the most about finally seeing the Beane version was how little it changed the musical or the character of Cinderella -- she barely suggests that the Prince ought to listen to the peasants' complaints -- I had imagined that there would be a little Joan of Arc in her, but no. The major changes Beane introduced were either ripped from old versions of Cinderella, from Grimm/Disney fairy tale tropes, or from the various TV versions, especially the 1965 version. The most interesting change, really, was the love story between Gabrielle and Jean-Michel. I was also amazed that he didn't add any smarter/more adult jokes; though I thought the whole thing was very pleasant, it was clearly aimed at children. Indeed, the 1957 broadcast has more "adult" situations, like Cinderellas's brief arrest near the end. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:36, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- I am pretty busy, but I will try to do it when I have some free time. And1987 (talk) 19:21, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
