New pic
editParev Aivazovsky, I uploaded a new pic of Tsitsenakapert Genocide memorial. If you want you can use it in your genocide userbox. This one won't cause trouble, it was taken by a friend of mine and he relases it so it could be used. It's a pic from the inside, with the flame. Check it out - Fedayee 19:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Aivazovsky,
- (This version is easier to follow.)
How about a version without the nonaligned flag icons as even easier to follow...? The larger map images might assist too... What do you think...? Yours, David Kernow (talk) 16:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- ...Just spotted your reinstatement of the above. I've tweaked some of the formatting (spacing, font-size) to try to make the template's layout clearer. Hope you approve, David (talk) 20:05, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

editIn the Demographics of Armenia article, I reverted your edits under the idea it was vandalism. I saw "-6,000" some odd characters in Recent Changes, and assumed you were a vandal without any consideration for the actual edit itself. I've reverted my mistake to your last revision, and hope that I did not cause any harm.

Flag of Tajikistan during Tajik civil war
editHello Aivazovsky, I saw this picture Image:Tajikistancivilwar-gun.jpg and I was interesting from the flag behind the man on the picture. Do you have any information about this flag before to be adopted the new tajik national flag? Thanks --Pakko
Hello
editHello. I was just wondering why you reverted my edits here (the IP was mine): [2]Hajji Piruz 14:42, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, thanks for fixing the picture here: [3] I was working on a new one when I realized you had already finished it.Hajji Piruz 14:47, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm Azerbaijani from Iran, although I wasnt raised in Iran. My family is very mixed though. My family is basically the usual Iranian melting pot. I have some relatives that are Arab, some that are Persian, some that are Kurd, etc... Ethnicity isnt the most important thing for us. I've been taught to be open minded. Why do you ask?:)Hajji Piruz 15:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I certainly cannot speak for all Iranian Azeri's, or any Iranian for that matter, I'm quite "Westernized" now. I'm sure there are those who have been influenced by propaganda who want to seperate but generally the answer is no. Iranian Azeri's, both historically and today, are generally very nationalistic. Right now I'm working on a new article, so I'll e-mail you more of my thoughts via e-mail as you requested.Hajji Piruz 15:13, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Infobox City Armenia
editI have reverted your edits to {{Infobox City Armenia}}, which removed the hCard microformat mark-up described in the template's documentation, Please familiarise yourself with that, before making any further edits there. Thank you. Andy Mabbett 20:03, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Then how come Template:Infobox Greek Dimos is allowed to follow this format and the Armenian template is not? -- Aivazovsky 01:42, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- This isn't about the visual appearance of the infobox, it's about what you removed, or over-wrote, when applying it (and which I've just applied to {{Infobox Greek Dimos}}). Andy Mabbett 06:21, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
You broke it again. I've made some repairs, but see, for example, Dushanbe. Andy Mabbett 17:55, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- I fixed that. Dushanbe isn't even in Armenia (in fact it's the capital of Tajikistan). I'm not sure why I used that template for that p[age, though I suspect I was trying to create a Tajik Infobox of some sort. In any case, it didn't work, so I fixed it to just use the Infobox City template. -- Aivazovsky 18:10, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Hrant Dink's son
editHi! I thought you were on wikibreak.
This is the third investigation/lawsuit for 301 that Hrant Dink was prosecuted for. For lawsuits involving newspapers, lawsuits automatically involve the author (Hrant Dink), the owner of the publishing license (don't remember the name) and executive editor - this is not the chief editor position (Etyen Mahçupyan after Hrant Dink), more administrative, sometimes they are the same, sometimes they are not (Arat Dink). The lawsuit was for publishing the interview Hrant Dink gave to Reuters where he said what had happened was a genocide, the claim being that this then insults Turkishness. Of the defendants, Hrant Dink being deceased, the case was automatically dropped for him but continues for Arat Dink and the owner of the publishing license.
So... Not a new case, but the 3rd case that was waiting trial at the time of Hrant Dink's assassination. Most foreign newspapers (and by the way Wikipedia) have gotten the details wrong. My source is Agos itself. Best regards, --Free smyrnan 17:18, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Armenia and the European Union
editHi Aivazovsky. You are off to such a great start on the article Armenia and the European Union that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. Appearing on the Main Page would help bring publicity to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. Again, great job on the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 14:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, please nominate the article now since after 18:33, 30 June 2007 (five days after the article was created), it may no longer qualify for DYK. However, I was having a hard time figuring out the topic of the article. I think the topic of the article is the relationship between Armenia and the European Union over time. -- Jreferee (Talk) 16:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Just nominate what you think might work. Editors over at the DYK suggestion page will comment if any changes need to be made. -- Jreferee (Talk) 16:54, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Aivazovsky. Just keep an eye on the nomination at Articles created on June 25. If no one comments by June 30th, it is likely that it will make it onto the Main Page. If someone comments before that time, work to address their concerns before June 30th. -- Jreferee (Talk) 18:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

editThe painter
editHi! I noticed your name in an article on Croatia. I'm glad you're interested in my country, but I'm even gladder that you're a fan of the painter Aivazovsky. I'm currently searching for a link between him and the famous French poet Arthur Rimbaud, because Rimbaud's poem The Drunken Ship looks like Aivazovsky's paintings translated in verse. I found out somewhere that Aivazovsky had an exhibition in Paris. It's possible that Rimbaud saw it, but there's no definite proof, so I'm still looking. Anyway, just wanted to share this with you. See you! --Zmaj 14:24, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Let's hope Armenia joins the EU too... if the Armenians want it, that is. Contact me in case you need to check any paper info on Croatia, I can look it up in a library. --Zmaj 15:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Infobox City Armenia TfD
editHello Aivazovsky,
I am replying to your post on my talk page here (as opposed to there) because you asked me.
If possible, it is best to try to reduce the number of nation-specific templates. Infobox City Armenia was very similar to {{Infobox Settlement}} (aka Infobox City) so switching it was very easy. I really liked the color/shading scheme that you tweaked Infobox City. In the future, I would support you if you were to purpose and implement such a shading at {{Infobox Settlement}}. As you can see, I kept the flag of Armenia present by using the template:{{ARM}} Armenia. This is the way it has been done in other countries; examples: Montreal, Novi Sad, Kissidougou, Warsaw.
The Polish city infobox that you mentioned has actually been replaced with Infobox Settlement is up for deletion right now at WP:TfD. I'll see if I can come up with a half-filled in Syntax for Armenia Cities, towns, etc. I'll contract you about it later. —MJCdetroit 19:43, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

- I think it's generally good, but time will show if it is really the case. People who voted for him decided to give him a second chance. The year 2007 was a setback, and a serious one. But the election was unusually competitive and the government now shows willingness to cooperate with opponents. That's very good. The lession seems to have been learned. --KoberTalk 19:38, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

editOk, good. I think the real winner will be Armenians page. ;) Steelmate (talk) 00:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Not at all, please go ahead and do the high quality PNG images, the only thing I would ask is to keep same sizing of images (60x95). Thanks. Steelmate (talk) 21:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting idea. I think the only drawback I see is that page loading time will increase dramatically, as it will need to load the bigger sized image and then visualy scale it down, versus already scaled down and smaller sized image. I would say for the benefit of fast loading of the front page let's have there already prescaled small 60x95 images, and when they click the image he will still have a licensing link there leading to a full version of the image. Also we might explore possibility to actually including full version of the image into the licensing information of the smaller image. Steelmate (talk) 03:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, withdrawn my vote of Ozanyan in favor of King of Cilicia. Steelmate (talk) 23:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Aivazovsky, maybe you could also help out with images for the infobox here : Armenians in Georgia, couple of images are missing and some of them need to be resized to 60x95. Thanks! Steelmate (talk) 21:12, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- It is a nice way to have expanded information about Armenians from Georgia. We can include more pictures and generally more information there. Won't hurt. Or please propose any other infobox for that page. Steelmate (talk) 22:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Khachaturyan is Armenian from Georgia along with many others, and he is considered Armenian from Georgia. Actually that is why there is a seperate page for Armenians in Georgia because it is not exactly the same as Armenian from Armenia or Armenian from Argentina. Culturally there are differences. Steelmate (talk) 22:47, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- What is wrong with images of famous Armenians from Georgia? Also I don't know anyone from Abkhazia... Steelmate (talk) 22:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Of course they are famous Armenians, but the fact is they were born in Georgia and Wikipedia has article specifically on those people. Why try to hide the fact that those famous Armenians were born in Georgia? We should be proud that Armenians born in other countries became such a famous people. Steelmate (talk) 22:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Question of collages for Armenians in other countries is a different question. Nobody forces you to do anything, all contribution are voluntary, so if you find it hard to do, please don't feel obliged in no manner. Steelmate (talk) 23:00, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
