Photographs
Dear Airplanman, We haven’t been talking in a while, but I hope all is well. The reason for this message is that I noticed some time ago some obscenities written below two photographs at wapedia. I thought somebody will take care of this, but it is still there. This is the article from Wikipedia and I don’t know how it happened, so I think, you, as an experienced and good administrator, can investigate the matter and remove the obscenities (obviously somebody vandalized these pages at wapedia). I don’t know if wapedia is a subsidiary of Wikipedia and how can this happen and why. This is the main page: http://wapedia.mobi/en/Dejan_Stojanovi%C4%87
These are the two photographs at (obscene remarks are in red below the standard information): http://wapedia.mobi/en/File:Dejan_Stojanovic,_Chicago.jpg
http://wapedia.mobi/en/File:Dejan_Stojanovic,_1981.jpg I think that other photographs haven’t been vandalized.
I also have found the exact date for the photograph as a child, which is August 1961, not 1962, so it should not be circa 1962 but August 1961.
Best regards and I appreciate your good work. Thanks. Mountlovcen8 (talk) 18:59, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hello! All is indeed well. How are you? I see you saw these remarks on wapedia. They aren't present in their respective Wikipedia files, however, and I could not find evidence of vandalism in the files' histories:
- I will contact User:Tiptoety about this since he's being targeted (I would remove the obscenities if I could just figure out how to). I've fixed the image description and caption accordingly for File:Dejan Stojanovic 21.jpg. Best, Airplaneman ✈ 19:16, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I am well. Thanks. Maybe you will be able to figure out this since it is very bizarre. I also forgot to tell you that there is an article about the footballer (with the same name, except the last letter – c, without a little sign above it) and I think that disambiguation is either not done or not done properly so many links that should not lead to the article about him lead there. Maybe the word footballer should be added to establish the distinction between the two articles with the same name. Like this, there is confusion. Best, Mountlovcen8 (talk) 20:42, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'm out of ideas for how to fix the defamatory words on the images from wapedia, but I think I know what to do for the problem with Dejan Stojanovic and Dejan Stojanović. As explained here, if there is no primary topic, the ambiguous page should be made a disambiguation, with the other two pages having disambiguators added. I don't see a clear primary topic (even though one article is much more substantial than the other). If you disagree, I'll go about reversing my damage :) which shouldn't be too hard. The names Dejan Stojanović (writer) and Dejan Stojanović (footballer) seem reasonable. The page Dejan Stojanovic will then redirect to Dejan Stojanović. I'll set to work on getting this straightened out. Airplaneman ✈ 17:22, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Marking articles students are working on
Howdy, Online Ambassador!
This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students (in particular, any ones you are mentoring, but others who don't have mentors as well) and do these things:
- Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
- If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
- Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.
And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.
Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:10, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
My Twizzllaa page has been deleted.
Hello Airplaneman (: My name is Saif Abu-Shakra, You deleted my page that I created few hours ago. I spent alot of time learning the methods of making it, and at the proccess i kept saving but it gets deleted. I dont know the reason for why my page has been deleted, maybe because it was not complete and considered not worthy. The truth is, im a local rapper in Jordan and really known to people here, I have my own Music Page on Facebook and I have allot of songs posted on it, and the reason I'm making a Wiki page is because i want fans and people to be able to know me better easily, by posting everythin on Wikipedia regarding that its a famous information website. I don't know how the process goes but I wish you would give me the chance of makin my page on Wikipedia. Thanks alot Saif abushakra (talk) 22:18, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Saif, I'm sorry to say that the subject you're writing about (yourself) doesn't seem to meet the biography notability criteria. In addition, it also sounds like you want to post to promote yourself, which is unacceptable on this site because it's an encyclopedia, not a directory. You can't use Wikipedia to gain additional exposure; that's just not how it works. I apologize if I come across as harsh; the truth is, I'm a guy who is also very into music (I have a few compositions on the web if you want to stalk me creepily and find them :D). To sum it up, Wikipedia isn't the right place right now. I wish you the best in your musical career, Airplaneman ✈ 22:55, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll do it
Thanks for your information, Airplaneman. I've been thinking of getting active on wikipedia again during this week, and my interest in wikipedia hasn't gone yet. I stopped editing cause I had a hell lot of homework back then and I didn't have time to do it. Hopefully, I will be able to de-stub the article by the end of this month. :) By the way, there have been rumors that the Hong Kong Sinfonietta is currently facing a financial crisis. Hmm the old article was basically a huge copyright violation, so it'd be better to start form scratch. The reference is reliable, although it'd also be good to find third-party sources as well. Airplaneman ✈ 14:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello... I am the original editor of the article Eddie Benitez and I am Eddie Benitez. I am not sure if I have processed the deletion nomination correctly, the page is very confusing. I am requesting you do that on my behalf. Over the past week, there are 2 IDs - Angelsonmystage and Westwind77 that has been putting false information and slanderous statements in the entry. I do not wish for any future edits to take place, the article has been butchered and I do not have the time to monitor this article daily. Deletion procedures
Hi Airplaneman! I remember that for PROD, if someone de-PRODs it, it cannot be re-PRODed. I can't quite remember if there was a similar thing for Speedy deletion, though. I know authors aren't supposed to remove speedy tags, but if someone else removes it, are we allowed to re-speedy tag it? Brambleclawx 18:10, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- CSD, in a nutshell, is for uncontroversial deletions. If someone besides the author disagrees (and they're not the author's sockpuppet/meatpuppet...) then it would be better to go with PROD or AfD because there is apparent controversy from the contested speedy. Airplaneman ✈ 21:52, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok. What would you do though, if an IP address user removes the CSD tag (I can't tell if it's just the author logged out)? Brambleclawx 21:59, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Since you can only assume that the IP is another user, it's best to go the AfD route; however, if they remove it without explanation (this goes for any user, not just IPs) try asking for one, because removing a CSD tag without an explanation is borderline disruptive in my opinion. Can you please userfy Air Ambulance Card, LLC
Hi Airplaneman- I'm hoping this one might interest you. I wrote an article about a medical evacuation membership company that relied almost exclusively on highly credible third party sources (New York Times, Wall Street Journal, US News and World Report.) I am happy to revise it to address any concerns, but need it userfied first. Any help would be appreciated. You can also email me directly at atticusrominger [at] gmail.com.

- Hi! I'm hesitant to userfy it because it looks like part of the reason it was deleted was because it was (or parts of it were) a copyright violation. It may be better to start from scratch here. Best, Airplaneman ✈ 14:33, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Libya
I noticed you placed it under protection. However I wanted to add some reference on the libya page to the following article: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Great_Manmade_River
Not many are aware that under the rule of Qadaffi something good like this has been build. Eventho the actions done by the UN/NATO might have damage the great_manmade_river, it should at the very least be referenced and mentioned on the libya page. Ironically the great_man_made_river supposedly should be finished at Benghazi, the place of the uprising.

Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400, a new Good Article
The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap of the race. Edwards started in the second position on the grid, and became the leader of the race on the fourth lap. Shortly after a restart on lap 22, championship leader Denny Hamlin spun sideways, resulting with damage to his splitter. Martin Truex, Jr. took the lead on lap 73, but after the final pit stops Edwards was first. He maintained the lead to win the race, having led it for 192 laps. A total of 67,000 people attended the race, while 5.605 million watched it on television. There were ten cautions in the race, as well as twenty-five lead changes among nine different drivers. Edwards' victory was his second win in the 2010 season, with the first coming the previous week at the Kobalt Tools 500. Jimmie Johnson won the Drivers' Championship, 39 points ahead of Denny Hamlin. Johnson's team owner Rick Hendrick won the Owners' Championship. Chevrolet won the Manufacturer Championship with 261 points, 44 points ahead of Toyota. Request for second pair of eyes
Hi again Airplaneman, sorry to bother you. Steuart Campbell is a writer on UFOs and other related topics. A few years ago he emailed me to ask me to expand his article as I had told him he could not ethically edit it himself. He recently requested that I remove certain information from his article. I saw no harm in doing so and complied. Can you please review what I did? I made a brief note in talk, so you could comment there, here, or at my talk, I don't mind. A genuine gift
Because I have interacted with you, and many like minded, there is no room for regret for things I have attempted. I have observed some of the finest, well thought discourse, possible of human interaction. Just knowing there are these ones like you, where I can ask for a well reasoned response, gives all the fulfillment I could have hoped for. And enough reason that I should stay. I thank you for that, and all that it rightfully implies. Best regards. My76Strat (talk) 02:29, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- Also, any mention of ambiguity is not related to your very clear, well thought, presentation. Simply that there is a remaining voice that currently sees more wrong in my manner than the manner I had asked to be clarified. Yours was quite unambiguous. Thank you for that. My76Strat (talk) 04:18, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
You're certainly welcome. It pains me to see editors being treated badly, and I'll try my best to fix that. Best, Airplaneman ✈ 14:20, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Why did you full protect? There wasn't any discussion for 6 days, so therefore it looks like the consensus was to not include. You and I both know pointless, unsourced trivia does not belong on Wikipedia. It's these disruptive IPs who can't seem to understand how this works, even when you point out policies to them. CTJF83 12:02, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- Any explanation. CTJF83 11:26, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't feel that clear consensus was established about what to do with the section. Continuously reverting each other isn't helpful and I thought full-protection would be best to promote discussion from both parties. Airplaneman ✈ 14:11, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation
Dear Airplanman, I thank you for your cooperation and willingness to unselfishly help always. Still, in regard to disambiguation of an article, I think there was a little misunderstanding. You mentioned, you would be willing to revert it considering potential damage. And there is some damage that cannot be repaired by simply fixing the links. First, I would like to clarify my idea: If there is an already established article and there is another, new article, which is not even a stub but only one sentence article, there can be no comparison between the two; also, the other article is an orphan, only benefiting in various ways from an older article. But this is not even the whole point or main point. Two articles had, technically, two different names. Even in the original transcription, for instance, in Macedonian, this is what it looks like -- Дејан Стојановиќ (there is a kind of letter k, with a sign above it in the end). If this were the only problem, I would only reverse everything and there would be less damage that way, but the problem is that sooner or later, since this is a very popular name, there will be some new articles with the same name. Since one article has been already established for some time, there is no reason to further damage that article, while on the other hand, it doesn’t help other articles. I think, we should use common sense and use the discretionary right (which you must have as an administrator) to do what is best, which would be, if you agree, to modify the disambiguation page to contain the word disambiguation in the brackets, like this page, for example, http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Elizabeth_Taylor_(disambiguation)
Then, to revert the article about the writer to its original name, without writer in the brackets. Regarding the footballer, since that name did not have a sign above c, I would keep the original name, without the sign above c, but would still add – footballer in the brackets, because that article was producing so many problems and confusion. If we do it like this, a real and already established article will not be damaged by further confusion, and potential new articles will be created with the addition of any applicable title or description following the name. No article will be damaged, and the original article will not have to suffer consequences. As it is now, there was already a huge drop in reading and there are many things which are impossible to fix and I would not like to go into details and bother you with them but there is considerable damage. I think, this is perfectly legitimate way not to damage one article but to accomplish the same purpose while not damaging any article in fact. If the articles were written at the same time and there were no history, it would have been a different story.
Also, regarding the musician (drummer), please keep in mind that even if article about him is written it will still be Dejan Stojanovic Kera, and the third name Kera already serves a purpose of disambiguation in a way. I think you would agree to this and possible fix it in a proposed way so that one article doesn’t suffer consequences for no real reason while nobody benefits. Thanks. Mountlovcen8 (talk) 19:04, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Mountlovcen8, thanks for the explanation. To help prevent further confusion, I think I'll ask for another pair of eyes on this matter. As I understand it, you would like to move Dejan Stojanović (writer) to Dejan Stojanović because it is the primary topic and Dejan Stojanović (footballer) to Dejan Stojanovic (as I understand it, however, his name has a "ć" in it, not a "c"). Therefore, it would be necessary to move Dejan Stojanović to Dejan Stojanović (disambiguation). Airplaneman ✈ 13:37, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm not trying to come off as rude but, there are PLENTY of other actors/actresses who have films that are in pre-production listed in their filmogragy such as Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, Zack Snyder, Daniel Craig along with Judi Dench in Bond 23, and Simon Pegg has two movies listed that have only been "announced" and aren't anywhere near pre-production. We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck!
