FYI
editHi A. B. I came across this today, thought you might be interested. Keep up the good work. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:33, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

editYeah, that should put a stop to it. Good work! Enigma message 19:11, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

editThese?? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:35, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- There's certainly a lot more useful content there than in the stuff I've been dealing with in the last several days. I'd list them at WP:COI/N -- the editors there are better at tactfully dealing with and redirecting potentially useful editors than I am.
- That editor needs to change his username or else someone's going to block him. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 12:32, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough - bit short on time for now & I came across copyvios on Commons. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 13:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Cloud computing spam
editThanks for spotting the mycloud.com.au spam on cloud computing. I've had to revert it again and warned the user. samj (talk) 08:23, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. They just got their domains blacklisted with their behaviour. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 15:32, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Journal Communications Inc
editThanks for following up on that spam report. How did you find all those related domains? I was expecting that there would be more editor-accounts involved. Were they all from just the accounts listed? --Ronz (talk) 17:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- I queried WhosOnMyServer.com and saw that this was a dedicated server just for this company's domains, then I just blacklisted the whole list since it was clear they were going to hit us with most of these sooner or later. WhosOnMyServer.com is a powerful tool when the spammer has a dedicated server (and when WhosOnMyServer is working). --A. B. (talk • contribs) 15:37, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- P.S., see the comment I left you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#SOAExpert1 Wikistalking (permanent link)
WhosOnMyServer.com looks like a great tool. Thanks! It finds all domains that are use the same ip address block as the one you enter? --Ronz (talk) 16:11, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Same IP, not the same IP block. Unfortunately, it's off-line much of the time. Also, if it's not a dedicated server, it may list dozens or even hundreds of unrelated domains, so some interpretation is involved. (Note: the example I used in the link immediately above is based on a domain selected at random ; it has not been spammed here). --A. B. (talk • contribs) 16:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
seedbox spam
editHi! I saw that you took care of the myseedbox.com spam here: [1] (which is related to seedbox, User_talk:Shellmax, and some IP's). An IP has added a different URL to the seedbox article that redirects to myseedbox: [2]. The WhosOnMyServer tool you mention above also picks out a few more redirects. Maybe this can can be used to extend your myseedbox blacklist report? THEN WHO WAS PHONE? (talk) 00:58, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Good catch … and a good suggestion. I started an expanded listing at MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist#Seedbox Hosting spam and I'll follow-up in the next day or two. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 05:40, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

- Ronz, thanks for the heads up. I have spent the last 2 hours looking into this and it's huge, spanning across several dozen Wikimedia projects with multiple accounts and domains. It maybe a day or two before I can wrap it up. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 20:00, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

editI've reviewed and you're right. I did not review the histories, but assumed that the two he created, CanWestMediaWorks and Worldwide MediaWorks, were indicative of his m.o. ergo his edits to the other three were identical. Cell phone + driving = crash; work + Wikipedia-adminning = drunken deletor. My apologies to those involved in the other articles. Thanks for your observational skills; cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:30, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
