Welcome to The Toowoomba Photographic Society.

Celebrating 115 years of local Toowoomba photography

The Toowoomba Photographic Society is one of the oldest photographic societies in Australia – formed on the 23 May 1905. Our aim is to promote, improve, share and enjoy photography in Toowoomba and the surrounding district offering many services, all specifically designed to improve photography and photographic skills in a friendly social atmosphere.

Membership is open to all comers regardless of whether you are a beginner, an amateur or a professional photographer. Each month we hold the following activities: a competition meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.00pm in DeMolay House, 90 Margaret Street, opposite Queens Park. Images submitted by members (black and white, and colour prints and digital images) are judged by experienced photographers as part of our annual Aggregate Points competition. They provide helpful feedback to entrants. There is an entry fee of $2.00 per person. At the intermission in the meeting, all present are invited to discuss photography with others. A monthly photographic field day with members, a Skills Group meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7.00pm in DeMolay House, 90 Margaret Street, opposite Queens Park. At these meetings we have a guest speaker or one of our own members giving a talk about some aspect of photography. Sometimes we have a practical night, such as a portrait workshop or a demonstration of a photographic technique. We also provide judges for photography competitions and are involved in many local events. You don’t need to own the latest digital SLR camera to be a member. What is important is the end result, not the equipment used. So come and be part of the community of photographers in the Toowoomba area.
