James Frederick Kerr (born March 21, 1997) is an American baseball first baseman for Michigan Wolverines baseball. He was selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft with the 982nd pick (in the 33rd round) by the Detroit Tigers.[1] He was a 2019 third-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior.[2] He led the Big Ten Conference in runs batted in that year.[3] Kerr was the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament regional at Oregon State, based on going 5-for-16 with four home runs.[4] He is a third generation Wolverine College Baseball World Series participant,[5][6] which may be a first for the sport.[7][8] His uncle was not allowed to see him play in the World Series because he was perceived as bad luck.[9] He is the first Wolverine to collect three home runs in a College World Series.[10]
