Chalith Rusiru Kalupahana
editChalith Rusiru Kalupahana (born May 21, 1994) is a Sri Lankan bodybuilder, painter, sculptor, and art instructor. He is renowned for his accomplishments in painting, sculpture, teaching, and bodybuilding.
Early Life and Education
editChalith Rusiru Kalupahana was born in Panadura, Sri Lanka. His mother, Champa Rohini, and father, Lesly Kalupahana, later moved the family to Wadduwa when Chalith was six years old. He is an only child. Chalith attended Panadura Central College, where he completed his Ordinary Level examination. He then continued his secondary education at Gurulu Gomi College in Kalutara. Chalith pursued higher education at the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Sri Lanka.
Bodybuilding and Powerlifting Career
editKalupahana has achieved notable success in bodybuilding and powerlifting. He placed third in a powerlifting competition organized by the Sri Lankan Body Building and Fitness Federation.[1] Subsequently, he won numerous titles in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and bench press competitions held by the same federation.
Academic Achievements and Scouting
editDuring his academic life, Chalith participated in the 2007 District Scout Rally and fulfilled all the prerequisites for the Raigam Sammana Scout Awards[2] while in Grade Nine. He also passed the final certificate exam at Dhamma School.
Art and Sculpture
editChalith is recognized as a prominent batik artist, having created numerous batik pieces in recent years. In 2018, he won first place in the bontrail sculpture category at the State Art and Sculpture Festival, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, the State Advisory Council of Visual Arts, the Art Council of Sri Lanka,[3] and the Ministry of Cultural Internal Affairs and Regional Development. Additionally, he received an excellence award in the creative sculpture category at the same festival. He has also won multiple awards in interdistrict and interprovince art competitions.
