In fictional works (such as novels, comics, movies, television shows and games) is information which gives insight into the narrative (including plot points and story summaries) which may be sometimes found in the description of content. In this encyclopedia, spoilers are often necessary in the course of describing a fictional work. For those who are unfamiliar with the work, there is a possibility that spoilers will ruin their enjoyment [of the work].
It is assumed that Wikipedia articles will sometimes need to contain spoiler information. For this reason, removing spoiler content [on the sole grounds that it is spoiler content] is not allowed. Removing content for this reason violates NPOV and lessens the quality of the article and should not be done unless the content otherwise lessens the integrity of the encyclopedia. At the same time, when including a spoiler, an editor should ensure that it is information which is necessary to describe the subject and appropriate to the article. Wikipedia is not a place to collect indiscriminate information. Articles on fictional material should emphasize critical evaluation and broad influence, and focus on real-world relevance as reflected in commentary by appropriate sources. On the internet, users commonly elect to mark information which includes spoilers with a "spoiler warning", to warn readers. This has sometimes been applied on the Japanese Wikipedia. However, there is no rule requiring Wikipedia articles [with plot summaries] to be so-marked. users should not assume that there are no spoilers just because a spoiler warning is absent; Wikipedia articles [on such content] should always be assumed to have spoilers.
When you view an article in the Wikipedia page for mobile phones, you can choose to show or hide sections of text. Various non-mobile phone web browsers for mobile phones can be used to display the page in a similar way using the following syntax: If the original page URL reads: "http://ja.wiki.x.io/wiki/", simply place an an "m" between the "ja" and "Wikipedia to get "http://ja.m.wiki.x.io/wiki/"
Wikipedia is under no obligation to provide spoiler warnings in its descriptions of subjects. There is however a template for the spoiler warning which is currently located at {{Template:Spoiler}} However, there is no consensus between editors on which content it is appropriate to use this template for. Editors should be guided by the policies and guidelines found in WP:NPOV, WP:Be bold, and WP: Consensus in these matters.
As a result of pas discussion, an older template that added to added masking functions to pages has been discontinued as of May 2008. Another functionality template that allowed users to skip over spoiler content has also been discontinued as of March 2012.
