The 2022 Houston Outlaws season will be the Houston Outlaws' fifth season in the Overwatch League (OWL) and their second season under head coach Choi "Junkbuck" Jaewon.
Preceding offseason
editThe Outlaws' first departure of the offseason was on September 10, as damage player Kyle "KSF" Frandanisa retired, citing medical issues.[1] On September 30, co-head coach from the 2021 season Harsha Bandi announced his retirement, leaving Choi "Junkbuck" Jaewon as the sole head coach of the team.[2] The Outlaws dropped several more players, retaining only damage player Dante "Danteh" Cruz, tank Shin "Piggy" Min-jun, and player-coach Jacob "Jake" Lyon. On October 18, Houston acquired 2021 Rookie of the Year damage player Oh "Pelican" Se-hyun from the Atlanta Reign.[3] Four days later, former Reign support Kim "Ir1s" Seung-hyun joined the team.[4] The team's next acquisition wasn't until November 9, when they signed support Mun "Lastro" Jung-won, who had played for the Toronto Defiant in 2021.[5]
