Introduction

Hi my name is Nick. I am a student at Everett Community College. I am currently working towards a degree in computer science. I am a very dedicated and passionate person who loves to help people. I enjoy listening and playing music of all genres of music. I mainly listen to heavy metal and metalcore, but you will still catch me listening to a lot of jazz influenced music. Cars are one of my biggest and by far more expensive hobbies. Ever since I first did work on my car in high school I fell in love with it and have worked in the car industry ever since

Why am I here?

The main reason I am on Wikipedia is for my English 101 class, however now that I have an account I feel I will use it much more often especially as I get further into computer science and learn more about coding. I feel this will be a great source for understanding basic website designs and layouts. I also hope to be able to help correct misinformation and maybe even right my own Wikipedia article.

Article Evaluation

I have also been a huge fan of instrumental music as well as music with vocals. One of the many types of music I have always had a strong love for is the genre Electro or also known as electro-funk. It is a very upbeat and heavily influenced by disco music. I wanted to explore more on what Wikipedia had to offer in terms of information on electro style music. I visited the Electro article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: modern usage of the genre, global awareness, and biased citations."

Modern Usage of Electro

I noticed this article did not mention the use of this style in modern music commonly heard on the radio. There are many mainstream artists who still use this style such as David Guetta and Zedd. This style also tends to get grouped with the genre house music. Electro music is also commonly used in many current video games which is mentioned but no sources are cited to direct people towards examples.

Global Awareness

This article made no mention of the popularity of this music. This music is very popular in Hawaii and Australia. In Australia they call it refer to it as Melbourne bounce which is a very bass heavy style of the music but uses all of the same technics and basic sounds. I can see how this could fall under the category of not being neutral I still would like to see more mentions of other countries who popularized this music.

Biased citations.

The citations and sources in this article don't seem to be entirely credible or reliable. There seems to be a few articles that are taken from more of a personal perspective rather then a neutral perspective. This source seems to have a more personal take on the artist Africa Bambaataa rather then being directed towards the producer Arthur Baker which is what the source was used for. This citation does not seem to give more information about the producer but more about artists he worked with.

Summary

This article does a good job at providing information to the origin of electro music. It could use more information on it's evolution and current usage. With more research this article could definitely have more reliable sources specifically on artists and producers of the genre. I think with more current and updated sources this article would be a great source for understand the development and origin of this particular genre of music.
