NeoHumanitas

NeoHumanitas is a non-profit Swiss-based think tank founded on November 15, 2012 and specializing in the examination of the implications and potential outcomes of technological developments in the realm of ethics and ethical issues, society, and on human beings generally. NeoHumanitas has a strong focus on accessibility to the general public and members routinely publish in popular media, such as the Huffington Post, rather than solely in academia. It works and publishes in both English and French.

Position

edit

NeoHumanitas is not politically or denominationally affiliated, does not favour any particular ideology and does not advocate for a position (transhumanism, bioconservatism, etc.) in regards to human-technology interactions and applications. Rather, the stated goal of the organization is to provide a space to foster broad-based engagement on the issues of future, and especially current, advances and applications of technology on human beings and what their ethical consequences may be.

This, in turn, is intended by the organization to increase the democratization of the debate surrounding the use of developing and emerging technologies as they relate to humans and human enhancement. To further this goal, NeoHumanitas places a high priority on the accessibility of discussions and published material to non-experts, preferring the use of terms and arguments that are thoroughly explained and easily understood by those who may not have technical or academic backgrounds similar to the author(s). NeoHumanitas also prefers to engage in freely accessible media, such as TED talks and articles in online journals, and to make its published works, such as its online book future-human.life, available without charge.
