My name is Michael O'Dell, and I am a junior Political Science major. I am a transfer student from Heartland Community College and grew up in Bloomington. I previously attended Metcalf School and graduated from U-High, so I have almost always been closely associated with ISU. Upon graduation from high school, I wanted to be a chef. Therefore, I took up culinary arts training at Joliet Junior College, but it didn't turn out to be a right career fit for me. So, I transferred to HCC and earned my Associate's degree before coming to ISU. I have pretty much had a lifelong interest in the social sciences, particularly history. I plan to graduate from ISU with a history minor as well. I took a particular interest in political science after reading Profiles in Courage by John F. Kennedy. I am not a very politically outspoken/opinionated person. My main interest is learning more about the political processes and how our government works. In POL 214, I hope to learn more about the parties that shape our country's politics and also how they are relevant in our history.
