I'm a lover of language, of music, of mathematics and science, of food, of people people. I'm a pianist and a cyclist. I like to learn.
I'm stubborn.
I am here mostly to discover and learn, though I think it would be just terrific if I were able to contribute meaningfully to this awesome project.

editI love all aspects of linguistics. Besides English, I speak Spanish, French, and a decent amount of German. I have varying levels of proficiency (moderate to low) in French, Italian, Portuguese, and Japanese; I know some words in Chinese, Greek, and Russian. I plan to get "back into" languages again soon—IRC, anyone?
I very much like the language of mathematics, both pure and applied. Some (broad) fields that intrigue me in particular are analysis, algebra, and dynamics. I hope to gain more knowledge in category theory, game theory, and functional analysis.
I very much fancy the "hard sciences." In particular, I adore physics, chemistry, and biology. I love all of physics but especially electromagnetism and thermodynamics. In chemistry, you will likely find me reading an article from a journal in physical or organic before any other. I fudge a bit for biology: I mostly am interested in molecular biology/biochemistry, so it is up to the reader to determine if that is a true subset of biology proper.
I also enjoy the "science" (science and art) of medicine. The body is unfathomably complex. Some classical fields that intrigue me are cardiology and neurology. I also have interest in the newer area of radiology.
Some subjects I am interested in and intend to further my knowledge of are psychology, politics, and economics.

editI hate Brussels sprouts. I dislike the study of history as it is taught in the U.S. I dislike extreme quiet except when I'm playing the piano, in which case I dislike even a modest amount of bustle.
