editHi Leutha, Glad you liked the Donna Marianna article. If you are interested in the slave trade, I have just finished another article, Admiral Colpoys (1792 ship), that has a little poignant stuff, and that needs someone other than me to look it over for typos, if you have the time. Still, my main reason for contacting you is that amongst your userboxes I saw one for academic publications. I would like to add that to my user page, but haven't been able to find the template. I would appreciate it if you could you let me know what the template is. Thanks, Acad Ronin (talk) 10:41, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, ACAD. I have tidied up Admiral Colpoys (1792 ship) a bit, which i hope you like. I have also started work on Camden, Calvert and King and hope to deal with Thomas King in due course.Leutha (talk) 00:20, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- I did like almost all the changes, especially the bits about the Act, its limitations, and subsequent improvement. I did revert your changes to the two quotes from the Demerara and Esquibo Royal Gazette in order to preserve the quotes exactly, flaws and all, to retain their full flavour. I am glad to hear that you are working on some of the slaving companies. The transatlantic slave trade is under-covered in Wikipedia. I touch on it when I write on vessels involved. (I think Wikipedia really comes into its own, at least as far as shipping is concerned, when one can combine info from different more specialized sources and databases. In the Admiral Colpoys case, slaving and whaling.) Not to nag too much, but do you have the template for the scholarly journals userbox? Anyway, thanks for following up on Admiral Colpoys. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 00:32, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed the userbox bit: {{User:Scepia/published academic journal}} Leutha (talk) 01:34, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks. Also, I will keep an eye out for more info re Camden, Calvert, and King. I know of them mostly through whaling and convict transport to Australia. Do you think it would make sense to add links to some of their vessels, or would it be better to create a category for their vessels? Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 14:46, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:42, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
The article Ousseina Alidou has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no reliable references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- HighKing++ 11:39, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Leutha, I've tagged this article because I don't see enough for "notability". Perhaps there are other reasons/sources? -- HighKing++ 11:40, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Well, the tag you put on was in appropriate, and the fact that you wish to question her notability despite having received three awards, all referenced, somewhat disturbing.11:50, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure why you find it disturbing - the article does not explain anything about why she is notable and as it stands, the article looks like her CV to me. The awards don't denote notability. The references are self-published sources or non-independent. I've added a comment to the Talk page and I'll tag the article again but it would be great if you find independent coverage. -- HighKing++ 12:01, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- Article has been expanded, and I've just started one for her twin sister, Hassana Alidou. Edwardx (talk) 12:50, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Michael Ramsden
editThe article Michael Ramsden has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No indication of notability per WP:BIO, outside of his singing on one of the two albums released by the notable graphics group. I can find nothing in WP:RS online supporting his appearance in Mora's short film, just an IMDB entry. Most of what I can find in an online search for the name is about an unrelated Christian apologist.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wikishovel (talk) 14:30, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of National Union of Ghana Students
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on National Union of Ghana Students, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Caulker family of Sierra Leone
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Caulker family of Sierra Leone requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
