Michael Jeffrey Jordan, born in 1963 February 13, was an American Basketball player who is also known by the name of MJ. Now, he is Retired and a former businessman. He is the principal and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association. In his lifetime, MJ played 15 seasons of the NBA: winning six of them. On the official NBA Website, it quotes that “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time." He was an essential unit in popularizing the NBA around the globe through the 1980s and the 1990s. becoming an icon to many players in different states. MJ went to Wilmington's 'Emsley A. Laney High School'. There is where he developed a love for sports, such as basketball, baseball, and football.
Early life
editWhen MJ was a kid, he was taught to be hardworking and independent by his family. In school, he wanted to join the sophomore basketball team, but was rejected because of his short height. Instead of being depressed like often sophomore students, MJ got his head up by himself and joined the junior basketball team. He played exceptionally well and worked hard to increase his length. After impressing everyone, he was chosen to play in the 'McDonald's All-American Team' which is the best of all high school teams. MJ went to Wilmington's 'Emsley A. Laney High School'. There is where he developed a love for sports, such as basketball, baseball, and football. MJ worked in the hard equipment and electrical industry. He had 4 siblings as well, the closest one being Deloris, which at the time was studying banking. MJ’s other 3 siblings were Larry, James R. Jr., and Roslyn. As a freshman, MJ played college basketball for 3 whole seasons under the coach Dean Smith With the team of the North Carolina Tar Heels. As a senior, he played in teams like ‘North Carolina', 'Virginia', 'Duke', and 'Syracuse' for college. He was finally offered a scholarship in the 'University of North Carolina', because of his good performance in basketball. He also graduated cultural biography in college.
NBA Career
editMJ joined the bulls in 1954 as the third draft overall. He quickly emerged as the star of the team with his unremarkable unforgettable plays. MJ entertained a lot of NBA fans with his scoring. He did this while gaining a reputation as one of the best defensive players in all of NBA history. He had great Jumping power; this was demonstrated by how he scored slam dunks from the free throw line. Due to that, he started to get nicknames like “his Airnesss” and “Air Jordan”. In the date of 1991, MJ’s first championship season was by far his best as a Chicago Bull. During the regular season, MJ led the league by scoring 31.5 points a night. He also had six boards, 5.5 assists, 2.7 steals while shooting a career-high 53.9 percent from the field.He suddenly retired from basketball in the 94th season of the NBA because he feared he might become a replacement player during the Major League. Jordan announced his return to the NBA through a two-word press release: "I'm back." In March 1995. In January 13, 1999, MJ retired for the second time after having bitter tension with Jerry Krause and Coach Jackson resulting in Jackson leaving Chicago in front of the crowd at Chicago’s United Center. Though he had earlier stated publicly that he would not play for any coach besides Jackson, Jordan explained his decision to retire by saying he had lost the drive and desire that was necessary to continue playing at such a high level, and that he wanted to spend more time with his family. When asked if there was a chance he would come back, Jordan said he was “99.9 percent” sure he would not.In January 2000, Jordan became part-owner and president of basketball operations of the Washington Wizards, a struggling NBA franchise. After the Wizards won only 19 games in Jordan’s first full season in this position, he decided to rebuild the team, hiring the former Bulls coach Collins. Most surprisingly, the 38-year-old Jordan got himself into playing shape and came out of retirement yet again in September 2001 as a free agent with the Wizards. Though he scored his 30,000th career point on January 4, 2002, against his former team, the Bulls, Jordan was sadly never able to lead the Wizards into a playoff competition.

MJ has done a lot of things in his life, including brand deals, and being featured in movies. But the most important thing he has ever done, is be an inspiration to not only me, but many other people.
