JavaScript Wiki Browser - Script help |
Below sections provide "extra help" for the JavaScript version of AWB.
Setup
edit- Click on Setup tab.
- Click on Generate button. Displays popup menu
- Click on "Category" check box.
- Copy/paste category to work with.
- At very bottom of box, click on Generate button. Creates list of pages
Generate filter
edit- Setup tab
- Generate button
- Wiki search
- Use a Search term of
- incategory:"Orphaned articles from February 2013" prefix:B / or / prefix:Talk:B /
- Select (main) namespace
- Generate button, at bottom
Note - Steps 3, 4, 5 can be repeated multiple times to Append more articles.
Talk pages
editAfter above "Generate" is completed, to switch from Articles to Talk, do the following.
- In JWB, Click on "Editing" tab
- In left column, "List of pages" → select all ( Ctrl-A ) → copy ( Ctrl-C )
- In Notepad++, create new file ( Ctrl-N )
- Click on "Edit" → "Column Editor" → Text to insert → type in "Talk:" → OK
- Select all ( Ctrl-A ) → copy ( Ctrl-C )
- In JWB, left column → select all ( Ctrl-A ) → Delete → Paste ( Ctrl-V ) to make new list with "Talk:" prefix
Editing
edit- Top, contains "Preview" window
- Bottom left, contains "List of pages"
- Bottom middle, contains "Browser" action section
- Bottom right, contains "Editing area" wikicode
- Click on Editing tab to open Editing.
- Click on green Start button.
- Make add/change/delete in "Editing area".
- At Summary line, un-check Minor edit
- Optional, fill in custom "Edit summary".
- Click on blue Preview button to see page after edits.
- Click on red Skip button,
- or green Save button.
- Click on red Stop button when done with Editing.
Skip
edit- Click on Skip tab, before Editing.
- Fill in what to skip via. Contains or doesn't contain
- During Editing, not allowed to change. To change, first click Stop button in Editing.
How to filter
editTo find articles missing (or containing) a certain tag, wikilink, file, etc.
On a subpage, containing hundreds of wikilinks:
- Click on Edit source tab.
- Copy and paste wikilinks into Notepad (or other plain text editor).
- Remove any non-wikilink content, if present.
- Remove *[[ or #[[ staring wikilink brackets.
- Remove ]] ending wikilink brackets.
- Check that content is now a plain list.
- Copy and paste into JWP "List of pages" column.
- Fill in what to skip via. Contains or doesn't contain
- At "Editing" tab, click "Start" button
- JWB processes page list, and displays articles (if any)
For example: When "Skip" is "page doesn't contain:" and value is "Orphan", this means only display articles with "Orphan" tag.
