About me

edit

My hobbies include anything outdoors, such as running, hiking, kayaking, horses, and cycling. Cycling can make you feel young at heart, it is aerobic exercise which releases endorphins. [1]Summer is my favorite season and I really enjoy being outside and enjoying the sunshine.

My Wikipedia interests

edit

If I am active on Wikipedia in the future, I'll probably be using it for my college class or to find out information about different subjects.

Article Evaluation

edit

Anything to do with animals, especially horses or livestock, has always caught my interest since I was a young child. I have recently gotten more into gardening and planting grass seed so that my animals can always have a nice place to graze. With that I decided to research pastures and I want the Wikipedia article to be as good as it can be. I visited the Pasture article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the wrong reference for "grazing", lack of/outdated references for facts provided, and having a dead reference link (#4).

Misinformed reference

edit

I noticed that the reference that is provided for the word "grazing" in the very first sentence is wrong. The reference that is provided is is a definition for "pasture" which is not the correct information. The words have two very different meanings, grazing is the act of livestock eating on the pasture not the pasture itself.

Lack of/outdated references

edit

There are very limited citations for the amount of facts that are provided throughout the entire article. On top of the lack of references I noticed that a couple of them were quite old and not up to date as well. There is a lot of information in the article that has no citation along with it to prove that it is true facts, this article could definitely use some improvement on citations.

edit

As I wanted to make sure that all of the references were correct and reliable sources, I noticed that the reference "4" was not an accessible link anymore. The link provided takes you to a website but the page is not found anymore. This would not be considered a reliable link anymore.

Summary

edit

Overall, I think that this page is decent. There are quite a few sentences that have zero reliable sources to know whether this information is true or not. Although there is a lack of citations, there is a lot of linked pages that do have reliable sources attached to them. I think it would benefit this page as well to add some additional information on the topic.
