I'm an anthropologist on the faculty of the University of Kansas. I'm a longtime user and contributor to Wikipedia, and have also encouraged my students to create and edit articles. My principal research interests are the Pre-Columbian cultures of Mesoamerica, Central America, and South America, with a special emphasis on the Isthmo-Colombian Area. However, I also have a longterm interest in critical thinking and its application to fringe science and pseudoscience, especially pseudoarchaeology. I regularly encourage my students to develop skills in critically reading, writing, and revising Wikipedia articles on various topics. (See my talk page for some examples of this.)
