Images in Evangelion articles
As a signed-on participant of WikiProject Evangelion, I think we need to talk about the future of the images in the articles. Your input on the issue at the project's talk page is appreciated. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 03:51, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Eva 1.0 article
Hi, I'm copy-pasting this image to all you members in the Evangelion workgroup, since there seems to be no communication/to-do template in your workgroup yet (not sure if I have the time to join myself yet). The article on the newest movie needs serious help, particularly in converting listcruft to prose. Note that you may expose yourself to some spoilers if you choose to help. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Narusegawa.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Narusegawa.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I closed the debate, as opposed to restarted, due to the failure of the keepers to address the concerns about aliasing. Those who addressed it said that it is a serious problem. I don't need to restart the debate and waste another 7 days to come to the same conclusion. MER-C 04:42, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's irreparable in the sense that the entire image has to be completely redrawn with anti-aliasing enabled. Whether this is done in SVG or PNG is effectively irrelevant. I wouldn't mind a renom with this fixed and without the ballot stuffing. MER-C 05:57, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- There was no ballot stuffing, and anyone who says there was is full of it. Yes, there was vigorous debate, but you are clearly not an NPOV here if you're making comments like that. If the image has been used in print publications (newspapers, magazines, etc.) without any problem, then how exactly is aliasing an issue? The image was obviously high enough quality to be printed effectively, so that's just a load of bunk. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:48, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- I know I told myself that I'd leave it and concentrate on my exams but I just have to respond to this stupid validation of the quality of wikipe-tan which seems to be the answer to quality issues which is being recycled everywhere. Being published doesn't mean squat. I've had several images of mine published in books and articles and let me tell you that quality surprisingly doesn't play a large role. I was paid almost $800 by Oxford University press a few months ago for use of my Image:Paperbark.jpg image in their new pocket dictionaries. And if you try tell me that it is a high quality image you are just revealing your ignorance of image quality. The aliasing issues are significant, and the quality while not dismal is below FP standard. --Fir0002 05:23, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Just to clarify I was stating above that my paperbark image was low quality. View it at full res to see what I mean. And hence being printed does not mean that an image is high quality. Personal attacks? I didn't even talk about anyone directly! unless you are referring to "if you try tell me" - which is taking it the wrong way, it was meant in a general way --Fir0002 07:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Naru attacks.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Naru attacks.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
