Article evaluation
editLooking at the entry for William Labov, my observations are as follows:
- The first weakness I noted was that, outside of biographical information and his influence, nearly all of the information about his work is either from the same source, or does not have a full citation/is not clearly referenced.
- ex.: The author(s) make a claim that Labov retired in 2014 and it is marked as needing a citation; after a few minutes researching this myself, I have found several sources confirming his retirement, and this could be updated
- The article focuses primarily on his work with different "changes in the phonology of English," but doesn't mention the field of variationist sociolinguistics; similarly, perhaps his idea of a speech community could be addressed?
- The article generally seems to be neutral, and is part of six WikiProjects
