Hiya. My name is Helen and I was born in Bury, England and I grew up in Radcliffe I am 23. After spending three years in Canterbury Christ Church University, I came back home in 2004 and I have been back in Radcliffe ever since. I have a BA Hons in Media and American Studies and I have a PGCE (which allows me to teach people over 16). Last summer, I achieved my Level 3 qualification in literacy which means I can now help support students with literacy problems. I really hope that one day I will be able to teach basic skills.
I am dyslexic and dyspraxic so sometimes my grammar and phrasing on Wikipedia is poor. I am more dyspraxic than dyslexic. I was diagnosed whilst I was studying my PGCE nearly two years ago. I think this is why I am imaginative and I feel less mature than most people my age. I like to express myself through writing and drama. I am also clumsy and I sometimes say and hear words wrong and sometimes cant express what I think or feel correctly. It might also explain why I look at the world in a way that has classified me as an "oddball" in the past.
I am also single and bi-sexual. I only came out in September 2005 (it is something I had been "fighting with" for a year before coming out).
I am a film buff and am full of *useless* film trivia and I like to analyse films as well. My favourite films include Star Wars, The Matrix and Lord of the Rings. I love film adaptions of novels that I have read and liked in the past.
I love writing fan fiction (my best areas at the moment are the slash couples: Remus Lupin/Sirius Black and Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi) A majority of my ficiton are just one chapter stories but for the past year, I have been writing a multi- chapter fan fiction which focuses on Obi-Wan Kenobi's love for Padme Amidala. I can't call it an Obidala fic as in later chapters, it's mainly on how Obi-Wan sees the upcomign events around him. I have just finished a femmeslash fic starring Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley and I have an idea to write a fic involving Arwen and Eowyn as well as do a multi-chapter Remus/Sirius darkfic. I have been editing Wikipedia since April/May ( cant rememebr when I exactly started) and my main editing evolves around films. My contributions have included
Mystique (I added some info on her part in X3. I was the first person to add the information about her fate in the film. My passage has been modified a lot since))
Danny Boyle (I added a picture to the page and also created the "quotes" section.)
Mike Teavee (I added the bulk of writing to the "Similarities with Mike" section. My part looks at how the 2005 Mike differs from the 1971 Mike and I also wrote the small passage on the 1971. This passage has been modifed to my poor phrasing skills but the information is still the same.)
Faline (I added the pictures to the page to signify the different stages of Faline's life in Bambi and Bambi 2)
The Island of Dr Moreau (1996) (Well the information was already on Wikipedia but the author of the page has put in the wrong link believing the film was made in 1994. I also modified links around Wikipedia that say the film was in 1994. I have now deleted all the information on this blank page and have started creating the page from scratch. As time goes on, I'll add more and more info.
In recent weeks, Ive been looking at the film pages and focusing on film posters. If I can find big posters (bigger than the one shown on Wikipedia), I modified them to show bigger posters or posters with clearer detail. So far, my poster contributions are:
