Wikipedia is extremely cool.
This single website is a main source of knowledge for 4.3 billion people!
And I am one out of 47 million Wikipedians,
a drop of water in this ocean,
This ocean of people dedicated to expanding this awesome base of human knowledge.
“I came to the idea of how fine it would be to think of an encyclopedia of an actual world, and then of an encyclopedia, a very rigorous one of course, of an imaginary world, where everything should be linked.”
— Jorge Luis Borges, Interview with Denis Dutton, 1977

I bet people would laugh at the idea of a massive encyclopaedia completely written by random people contributing randomly on random topics from random places in random languages purely voluntarily. Well, we are in one now. We have created this linked encyclopaedia like what Jorge Luis Borges envisioned.
Yes, I'm still just a apprentice editor, and I still struggle to get my citations perfect and still have to search up code for text formatting, but I love Wikipedia. The pure thought that I, just one of 8 billion, can contribute with my little bit of knowledge to this forest of wisdom, gives me a sense of accomplishment I cannot describe. Perhaps this is why I am slowly transforming into a Wikipediholic.
The name 'Daftation' comes from my Minecraft username I made when I was around 11. My violin teacher used to call me daft all the time, and I thought I might make a tribute to him through my username. He left us with Leukemia in 2020.
Well, thanks for visiting my user page. I hope you are here not because I made a mistake. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my talk page. I will reply as soon as I see it.

Articles I Have Significantly Improved
My Story as a Wikipedian | |
---|---|
I started writing Wikipedia articles about firearms. When I was young, I wanted to be a soldier, defending my people and my country. What fascinates me about firearms is their engineering beauty, not the death that comes with them. I am against war and all the terror it brings along with it. My first article was about the QSZ-11, and I wrote it because, like most first Wikipedians, I couldn't find an article about it. As my career path became clearer, I slowly realized that architecture is my real passion. I wrote my first architecture article on the Banque de l'Indochine Building, and it turned out to be my best article yet. My mum brought me to Barcelona when I was around 7. The stunning architecture of Gaudi and the aesthetically perfect city made me fall in love with architecture. It became my second dream job, after the common first-child dream job of being a police officer. I will continue to write more articles, and please improve them or delete them (if they are actually bad). I will find you if you delete them if there are no problems. Do whatever you want for the best cause of Wikipedia. I write in British English only. Maybe Wikipedia should be spelt Wikipaedia. I love adding the Use British English template on the top of my articles. Now, please enjoy my blood, sweat, and tears by reading all my articles. You can't be bothered? At least read some of them... |
Tasks drafts in work and articles to improve and create | |

Drafts in WorkThis, or these, are, or is, my draft, or drafts, that I am currently working on. Please take a look and correct me on errors and make suggestions. If there's a '(in AfC)' next to them, or it, please help me by reviewing it. I always make articles with article wizard so reviewers can check my work. Artlicles I Want to CreateI will get to these. One day. Artlicles I Want to ImproveI will also get to these. One day. |
