There Are No Bugles is a 1953 Australian radio serial. It was a spy thriller by Harry Reidy set in the Northern Territory, including Darwin and Rum Jungle, Northern Territory.[2][3]

Premise

"The story concerns the tracking- down of a gang of uranium thieves. Leading character is security officer Christopher Hastings, who has flown to Darwin to organise the investigation. Uranium ore is being moved from Rum Jungle to Darwin for export to the Un/ted States, but the ships on which it is loaded mysteriously catch fire in mid-ocean." [4]

" A good laugh is guaranteed to all locals," said the Darwin Northern Standard.[5]

The Advocate said "The story is well written, with characters sharply defined, quick movement and good, flowing, realistic dialogue."[6]

The Adelaide Mail called it "stodgy".[7]
