This REDIRECT to {{WikiProject Ships}} needs Rcats (redirect category templates). Please modify it in the following manner:
from this:

#Redirect [[Template:WikiProject Ships]]

to this:

#Redirect [[Template:WikiProject Ships]]
PLEASE LEAVE THIS LINE BLANK

Thank you very much! – Paine (Climax!03:54, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

  Question: Why not {{R from template shortcut}}? --Redrose64 (talk) 15:13, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, one could add the Rcats separately as in {{R from template shortcut}}{{R protected}}. The {{This is a redirect}} template (shortcut = {{Redr}}) results in an upgraded rendering of text on Diff pages, such as this page. That upgrade was made in prep for when the redirects themselves begin to render text, which is still an improvement in progress (T16323). – Paine (Climax!17:51, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
OK then,   Done --Redrose64 (talk) 19:25, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

custom class category?

edit

Per this discussion, I thought to adjust this template so that WP:SHIPS could have a set index article class. At the bottom of all WP:SHIPS index articles is {{Shipindex}} which automatically categorizes these set index articles into Category:Set indices on ships. This template wants to categorize the class into Category:SIA-Class Ships articles. Is there a way to specify that |class=sia causes this template to use the already existing 'Set indices on ships' category or to leave these articles uncategorized for |class=sia? For the former, I suppose that we can create a category redirect. Editor MSGJ, you seem to be the expert here, can you offer suggestions?

@Trappist the monk: {{WPBM}} will always categorise into {{{class}}}-Class Ships articles so the best would be to create Category:SIA-Class Ships articles as a subcategory of Category:Ships articles by quality. The use of Category:Set indices on ships would be confusing anyway because that is for subject space pages rather than talk pages. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:19, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject template showing C class article as B class?

edit

Hi, on the talk page Talk:MV Span Asia 25 I added {{WikiProject Ships|class=C}}. The banner does not however display a C class for the article but B class and warns I haven't checked against the B-class criteria. I think there's a bug in the template. Jason Quinn (talk) 12:38, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

PS There's also some submersible on the back of the ship, seen in the new photo I added. Anybody have more info about what exactly that is? Is it for hull inspection? Jason Quinn (talk) 12:39, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I know this is almost a year later, so if there was a bug it may have been fixed. The rating criteria for WikiProject Ships is a bit stricter than for most other WikiProjects. Per the B-Class checklist documentation, Criteria Nos. 3–5 are required to be completed prior to the assignment of a "C-Class" assessment, and all five are required prior to the assignment of "B-Class". Because the B-class checklist has not been completed, the Start-class rating is forced on Talk:MV Span Asia 25. Harryboyles 03:04, 18 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Getting multiple B-class preview warnings on talk pages with this template. MSGJ, is it possible you broke something with your edits a couple days ago? - wolf 08:03, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Those B-class preview warnings are an expected result of MSGJ's change to remove B-class checklists from WikiProject templates. There was a discussion which closed with consensus to remove the B-class ratings across most WikiProjects (unless a WikiProject opted out of project-independent quality assessments altogether. - Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council § Determining the future of B-class checklists. (WikiProject Ships was notified about this proposal in October 2023). There's no immediate harm with those warnings - it's just saying that the B-class parameters are no longer recognised.Harryboyles 11:44, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
