Template talk:R from monotypic taxon

Switch to use Lua module

edit

I have written a Lua module Module:Science redirect, which can serve as a back-end for {{R from alternative scientific name}}, {{R to scientific name}}, {{R from scientific name}}, {{R to monotypic taxon}} and {{R from monotypic taxon}}. It supports generic, plant, fish, fungus, spider, crustacean, reptile, and insect redirects. I have already switched {{R from alternative scientific name}} over, but I wanted to wait a week or so to see if any problems arise with that template before switching any others over to the module. Let me know if there are any objections. --Ahecht (TALK

Confusing template tag

edit

The grammar would be easier to glean, especially for non-native speakers, if we inserted "instead"; changing the tag from:

Use ({R to monotypic taxon}) when making a redirect to a monotypic taxon from its only member, for example, from a species to the genus of which it is the only member.

into:

Use ({R to monotypic taxon}) instead, when making a redirect to a monotypic taxon from its only member, for example, from a species to the genus of which it is the only member.

… or into:

Instead use ({R to monotypic taxon}), when making a redirect to a monotypic taxon from its only member, for example, from a species to the genus of which it is the only member.

Done Seems a sensible clarification to me, so I've put the first of your options into effect. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:49, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
