Color

edit

I attempted to change the color used by this template to the color used by Template:Ontario, but was reverted. I am now trying again, but am open for discussion. The old color scheme was black and gold which was quoted as being "Hamilton colors", but not the colors of File:Flag of Hamilton.svg. I see no reason to have a rainbow at the bottom of the pages using this template. For example, the colors for Ontario are red/white/blue, but that template is still using the default. The orange and black colours are used by several local sports teams and are often seen flying around town and city hall. I recommend we keep the current colour scheme, as there is no overriding reason to change them or to add a rainbow. Ng.j (talk) 13:27, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

The colors used by http://www.hamilton.ca/ are not black and gold. A sports team (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) is not the city, and would have their own template, if one were needed. We should differentiate the city as a separate entity. Frietjes (talk) 15:20, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suggest you wait for consensus before you make any changes. Ng.j (talk) 15:27, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I say we revert it back to the black and gold. Those are the colors that traditionally have been the colors for Hamilton sports teams. Like the CFL Tiger Cats plus the one time NHL club they use to have, The Tigers, the OHA team by the same name as well. Hamilton's football and hockey teams traditional use of the Tiger plus the Tiger being a part of the Coat of Arms for the city of Hamilton. Hamilton is known for being "Tiger town" plus Hamilton city buses black and gold.  Nhl4hamilton | Chit-Chat  01:14, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I disagree per WP:Deviations and on the principle that the city is more than just sports. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 01:54, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's because of people like you I no longer make the contributions I once did on wikipedia.  Nhl4hamilton | Chit-Chat  05:34, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
What colours should we use then? We can switch to CSS without major problems, but the previous colour scheme was distinctive and attractive. Ng.j (talk) 05:59, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Obviously this guy does not know how to read English. He says the "city is more than just sports" but ignores what I had to say about Hamilton being "Tiger Town" and city having a Tiger on the it's coat-of-arms.  Nhl4hamilton | Chit-Chat  05:44, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Smaller Communities

edit

There are several articles for the smaller towns on wikipedia (mostly stubs), but I feel like they should be included on this Template.

I'm considering changing it to something like this (but with links and probably some more):

Ancaster · Dundas (Greenville) · Flamborough (Carlisle, Mount Hope) · Glanbrook (Binbrook) · Stoney Creek (Winona)

Thoughts? Grande (talk) 01:07, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Adding flag

edit

I am currently adding flags to Canadian city templates, but this one is protected... Can somebody please add this line to the title

[[File:Flag of Hamilton.svg|30px]]

Or maybe just unprotect the template? Thanks! 162.208.168.92 (talk) 17:01, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
