Proposed enhancements

In the failed TfD discussion, a couple of comments were made that still bear consideration. First, the image of an (Association) football with a clock face might be inappropriate for two reasons. It is sport-specific, and it suggests an immediacy to the topic that typically isn't there. (e.g. Contents may not "change rapidly".) I suggest replacement or removal of that image. The second comment was that using the ambox-notice class might be inappropriate because it suggests a temporary problem that ought to be fixed.

In effect, I think we are using summary style on sport team articles and therefore need a navigational template or hatnote to link to the current season. This template needs to look like a navigation aid that is permanently part of each article, instead of a temporary "work in progress" message box. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 23:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

With the sports ball, one would need to make a different template for each individual sport if it were to be changed. (baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, racing, etc, etc.) That is, unless it could be designed in such a way to have a changeable picture based on the way the template was added or something. A soccer ball is probably the most "neutral" sport to have on there if only one is used. (being the most popular sport in the world and all) Cardsplayer4life (talk) 00:27, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

This template fails MOSICON

The icons here fail Wikipedia:ICONDECORATION and Wikipedia:ICONDECORATION#Do_not_illustrate_or_introduce_unpublished_ideas and as such should be removed Gnevin (talk) 22:55, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

I think there is a difference between icons that are part of the Wikipedia user interface, and those used in encyclopedia content. I think the manual of style ought to only apply to the latter, which does not include this template. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 00:10, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
