This map depicts operating conditions from 1900 to 1913. Trains of the Lake Street Elevated Railroad and the Northwestern Elevated Railroad operated on the Outer Loop track while Metropolitan West Side Elevated Railroad and South Side Elevated Railroad trains used the Inner Loop track. Each service made a complete circuit then returned to its point of origin.
