Eruptions at Mount Etna, a volcano in Sicily, on the night of 16–17 November 2013. This active stratovolcano is the largest of the three active volcanoes in Italy, covering an area of 1,190 km2 (459 sq mi) and reaching a height of 3,329 m (10,922 ft). One of the world's most active volcanoes, its fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture.
