Definition
editYPG International can be understood in different ways. In its broadest sense, it encompasses all of the foreign volunteers in the People's Protection Units and Women's Protection Units since the outbreak of the conflict. The narrowest sense (the current article content) refers to one male-only English-language unit named the 'YPG International Tabur'; however, only a minority of foreign volunteers were in this unit. Most were with the International Freedom Battalion, with others in various Kurdish- or Arabic-language Syrian Democratic Forces units, the YPJ, the Syriac Military Council etc. I was thinking of expanding the article to also take in the broader definition. Removal of Sourced content from DW and the Guardian
edit@Drmies: For the second time, can you please explain why you removed the sourced content I added from Deutche Welle and the Guardian about investigations and charges pressed against European individuals who fought with YPG? Actually, on a second thought after looking at the references currently used in this article, I think this article altogether should be deleted per WP:Reliable sources. - I think my edit summary was quite clear, and that of Konli17 was as well. Drmies (talk) 21:55, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- No it was not. The stories talk about international YPG members who fought in Syria and are being investigated in their home countries. Why should this be removed? If you think it so clear why don't you write it here? Amr ibn Kulthoumعمرو بن كلثوم (talk) 03:25, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Well, you could say that the Danish woman, for instance, was detained because she supposedly broke some passport regulation. Of course she fought with the Kurdish peshmerga and YPG, and you might cite this, "Her lawyer, Erbil Kaya, noted the irony of seeking to prosecute someone who fought on the same side as Danish troops and other coalition forces while the government seeks to rehabilitate returning Isis fighters". Instead, you invent the heading "suspected terrorism", which isn't even what she was charged with. So I think I will drop a note on your talk page alerting you to discretionary sanctions in the area of BLPs. Drmies (talk) 12:21, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

- Wow, discretionary sanctions based on what? And how about the DW story? I am making that up? This clearly means you are taking sides here? 16:31, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Dear Amr, in none of the two sources the YPG international is mentioned. International is only mentioned as the fighters received support of an "international coalition" (against ISIS).Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:16, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Indicted in Court
editMost of the foreign fighters who went back to their European countries were indicted in court for acts of terrorism. It’s about time these people are labeled as terrorists. 85.99.181.174 (talk) 04:34, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
