NPOV dispute

edit

There are a lot of claims made in this article that make one side of the lake seem much worse than the other, most of which are unsubstantiated. Number of welfare recipients, for example, has no citation. I removed one NPOV statement and put in verification for another, but most of the rest of these (stemming from this edit) need to be either verified or pulled entirely. As one who grew up on the north east side of wonder lake(65 to 77), I can tell you that wonder lake was a summer area for middle-to-upper middle class Chicagoans. The winter population was barely enough to support a small k-8 school. I knew of nobody who settled from appalachia into the region. While I will not change the comments about the kkk (things may have changed), I am deleting the comments concerning the east side. see http://www.city-data.com/city/Wonder-Lake-Illinois.html.

I lived in Crystal Lake, just a few miles down the road, for four years. I heard nothing of the sort, and I read the newspapers religiously. I have never heard of such activity in Wonder Lake. I am going to remove the KKK comments. RyanGerbil10(Kick 'em in the dishpan!) 21:52, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Even if there was a cross burning what is now five years ago, a single incident is not notable enough for an entire section of an article. As for the incident having driven African-Americans out of the area, I don't mean to be harsh, but there were almost none to begin with. I don't think one isolated incident deserves such prominent mention. RyanGerbil10(Kick 'em in the dishpan!) 21:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
