Questionable claim of being Regent 1788-1816, changing to ruler of Tigray province
edit1788 he lost against Ali I and Aligaz of Yejju. 1788-1789 there were five candidates for Emperors. 1789-1794 during Hezqeyas reign, Aligaz was the regent.
1795 Baeda Maryam II & 1796-1797 Salomon III Wolde Selassie did help these, but their reign were very short.
Tekle Giyorgis I was emperor 6 times on and off between 1779 and 1800, he was restored in some occasion by different Rases, and fought him self back to power in others.
1801-1818 Egwale Seyon 1818-1821 Iyoas II were largely an figurehead of Gugsa of Yejju.
Wolde Selassie, and other rases (from Gojjam, Semien for example) were in conflict with the Yejju (who had control over the puppet Emperors but not over other major rival lords of other provinces) were Enderase and Ras Bitwodded (Regent) most of the period. Source
editIn this chart in the source, you can see he had most influence (not exclusively, but with Ras Asrat of Lasta) over Emperors between 1797-1800, maybe then you can argue he was Ras Bitwodde/Enderase (Regent) but i haven't a source that describes him that way, certainly not the whole period 1788-1816. Lord, or Ras of Tigray between 1788-1816 is more correct. [1] Dawit S Gondaria (talk) 08:40, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
