Bear Island
editWas there a station at Bear Island (Nunavut) or Bear Island (Norway)? The article on the one in Norway mentions weather stations being built there. I've also always read that Kurt was the only one on what is today Canadian territory, and another station in Nunavut would run counter to that. - SimonP (talk) 05:16, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Only German military operation in N.A?
editOperation Pastorius landed armed men from uboats why doesnt its landings count? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.1.61.3 (talk) 13:50, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
- Probably because the Germans who were landed at Long Island are not seen as regular soldiers (they wore German navy uniforms when they went ashore, but that was merely in order to be seen as POWs rather than spies if they should be taken within a couple of hours, as they indeed were: they had no intention of keeping their uniforms on if they went on to their business, unlike the sub crew up in Labrador). You could say they stopped being part of any regular GAF unit once they stepped ashore. I agree this is a borderline case and how it would be judged depends on assessments of their status. 83.254.151.33 (talk) 03:12, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
