Listcruft

edit

It appears this article suffers from extremelylonglistism; as Wikipedia is NOT a directory, I think it would be a good idea to trim this list back a bit (or a lot). There's no reason every person who works at the station needs to be credited in an encyclopedia article. The revision here is still list-heavy, and adding more folks to the list is, in my opinion, a bad idea. Let's try to establish a consensus here. I would agree... given that (in the vast majority of cases) Wiki articles list solely on-air staff -- or, at the very most -- staff that are profiled on the station's Web site. Amnewsboy 07:30, 20 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Staff?

edit

Why should we include a "staff" section if we aren't including all the staff? And no, we aren't including all the staff. Elfred 03:49, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-air staff

edit

Please stop adding non-air staff to the article; the WP:TVS standard is to only include on-air staff (if any staff is listed at all). Inclusions will continue to be reverted as vandalism, and reported accordingly. --Mhking (talk) 13:29, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

History to 1968

edit

This station's website seems to have forgotten its own history. According to TV Guide (October 8-14, 1966), WKYT was a primary affiliate with ABC and carried only a few prime-time CBS programs (e. g., Red Skelton and My Three Sons). WKYT only started carrying CBS on a regular basis in 1968. 97.120.133.131 (talk) 05:01, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll take this one! Initial remarks might take a few days. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 13:57, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Lead

edit
  • "Winchester Road (US 60) near I-75": comma in between
  • "in 1967 and the station returned to CBS, the station eventually": "in 1967, the station returned to CBS and eventually"

Local programming

edit

all fine

Technical information

edit
  • "analog signal;[75] due to reception issues.": maybe a comma would be better than a semicolon?

History

edit
  • Their announcement came the same day that WVLK abandoned their application for channel 18 for similar reasons, leaving WLEX unopposed in its bid to start WLEX-TV on channel 18.: The WLEX part seems unrelated; the WVLK part should be reworded, as they only cup up later and so look confusing here.
    • Disagree, but I have reworded this a bit. It's important because WVLK's move got the ball rolling on Lexington's first station.
  • properties.[41] (Kentucky: No period, I think?
  • Probably no more info after 2007?
    • No, nothing general to the station.
  • and also no available free images?
    • I looked—I always do.

Spot-check

edit

Checking every 9th ref in general

  • [2]: that operates WLAP
  • [9]: grading has started
  • [19]: after WVLK had expanded it's original offer
  • [28]: would continue as a CBS affliate
  • [37]: that would give it a competitive boost
  • [46]: they rejcted the offer
  • [54]: accustomed to leading
  • [64]: hourlong newscasts at 4 p.m. weekdays
  • [74]: Apr 16, 2009

Overall

edit

Sammi Brie, this are the only issues I could find. Ping me when done, I'll pass it. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 12:03, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Great article as always, no issues in the spot-check either. Happy to pass. Congratulations, Sammi Brie DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 18:09, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
