Article title and scope

edit

I'm not sold on the current article title but I thought it was the best fit for the scope, which should be "video game live streaming". That phrase, though, is never used in sourcing, as "live" is redundant in the source parlance, but "video game streaming" could refer to any number of OnLive- or PlayStation Now-style streaming media services in which the game runs on a server and only the display is pushed over the Internet. "Video game streamer" has a similar problem, but to a lesser extent: It might refer to the software in which individuals stream games, but that is within the scope of the article too. "Streamer (video gaming)" has the same issues, and the natural disambiguation would be preferable over the parenthetical.

The most pressing need for the article was to define the profession of "streamers", who (as a group) are mentioned in almost every contemporary game article, as their success often depends on promotion/testing through streamers as gatekeepers. This article's scope would be a sensible fit for information on the "streamer" profession, its history and role. czar 05:41, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Currently the title and purpose of the article don't work well together: the title implies that the purpose is all of video game life streaming when it is only covers the streamers themselves. The title should be changed to "Video game live streamers" to accurately describe the article. Alternatively the article's scope could be expanded to talk about all of video game live streaming and have a section on the streamers. Austinh291 (talk) 19:41, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

First Video Game Live streamer

edit

Nasubi (Tomoaki Hamatsu) is widely credited as the first person to live stream video games. As such it should be mentioned in this article. Damond Warrior (talk) 04:58, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
