Article has existed since 17 October 2005 (nearly six years) and lacks any sources whatsoever. Accordingly I have blanked most of the article until reliable sources can be found to attribute the information at this page. Cloudz679 (talk) 19:33, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

While the edit was extreme, and while I would caution you against doing a large number of similar edits, I can't fault the motivation behind it. I'll leave the article be for now. If nobody else steps up in the meantime, I'll revert you this weekend, when I'll have time to work on the sourcing. Best, —WFC17:32, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
A good one to follow seems to be Bloomfield Road, which has an extensive list of references! Thanks - Cloudz679 (talk) 17:43, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
~80% of the article is now either cited inline or attributable to the Phillips book: I have marked instances of the latter with <!--Hidden comments at the end of the relevant paragraph.--> Statements/paragraphs currently tagged with {{fact}} should be dealt with by Monday. If not, feel free to cull them. —WFC11:04, 1 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the improvements you have made to the article WFCEforLife. Cloudz679 20:00, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello,I would like to correct,at least partially, what is written regarding Watford FC's ownership of the Vicarage Road ground. Watford FC did indeed buy the freehold off Benkins, but long ago,not in 2002. The Football Club, backed by Sir Elton John of course had full ownership of it during the 70s and 80s glory days, and the 90s. It was in the summer of 2002,after the club posted a loss of £10million on the 2001-02 season (having been in decent financial shape immediately before that) that they were forced to sell the ground. While I do not know the precise date they originally purchased the ground off Benskins (would have to be in the 1970s or longer ago) or whether a Let's Buy Back the Vic campaign among supporters existed then,I do confirm that an active such campaign to buy back the ground was established soon after its sale in 2002,and that it was duly purchased back, probably on the day said in the article but I remember it being somewhere around (early?) 2004,with some input from the Russo brothers, who were directors at the time and owned a company called Valley Grown Salads which grew and produced salads supplied to supermarkets, etc. I do apologise if I've inserted this correction in the wrong place - it's been a few years since I last tried to edit a Wikipedia atricle,or contribute to its discussion page. Ralph,Vicarage Road regular 1982-2016 plus went to Watford away matches at 67 grounds around the country (still hope I may complete the 92 one day). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.30.48.82 (talk) 11:46, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
