Valdomiro Lameira → Estrela (footballer) – He is most commonly referred to as "Estrela" Joeykai (talk) 15:43, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

- Support as WP:COMMONNAME. GiantSnowman 18:15, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- Strong oppose WP:PRECISE Ambiguous disambiguation is a bad idea. Wilson Constantino Novo Estrela is also a footballer, who carries a surname "Estrela". And there's the football club Estrela do Norte Futebol Clube (North Star, which I assume is nicknamed just "Estrela" since it is listed; so can refer to players for Estrela do Norte). "Estrela (footballer)" should redirect to the disambiguation page Estrela where Wilson Constantino Novo Estrela and Estrela do Norte Futebol Clube are listed. Estrela (footballer born 1995) would be the format to use. Further, it just means football star, so ambiguous anyways. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 07:31, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Definitely WP:COMMONNAME. – Michael (talk) 17:55, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- It still fails WP:PRECISE so needs additional disambiguation. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 04:50, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- WP:PRECISE doesn't even apply here. He's the only footballer who goes by the name "Estrela". – Michael (talk) 20:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- He is one of two footballers who have that name. We frequently refer to sportspeople by just their surname, and Estrela is that surname. It fails PRECISE. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 04:49, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- No we do not. He refer to sportspeople by their commonname. The footballer you were referencing commonly goes by the name "Wilson". Here's a link to prove that. So WP:PRECISE is no where close to being violated. I have to agree with one of the users on this discussion. Your argument makes zero sense. – Michael (talk) 05:21, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- If you go by sports reporters (ie. newspapers) when they game summaries, they use surnames and nicknames, not fullnames, so "Estrela" applies to both people. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 03:59, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

- Support as WP:COMMONNAME. Comments on WP:PRECISE are misguided, see Ronaldo as an example why. Disamb suggestion above also makes no sense, Estrela (footballer) should be added to the disam page as an article link, not a redirect, with a {{confused|}} hatnote added to both Estrela (footballer) and Wilson Constantino Novo Estrela for clarity. Estrela (footballer born 1995) is unnecessary precision as there is no other footballer commonly known simply as Estrela. Finally, Estrela simply means star, not football star. Fenix down (talk) 08:46, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- That doesn't apply because Ronaldo fulfills WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and this Estrella does not fulfill primary topic because this article isn't moving to Estrela. The only way to avoid PRECISE is to fulfill PRIMARYTOPIC -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 04:49, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Whether we are moving to "Estrela" or "Estrela (footballer)" is really just a question of semantics for the purpose of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which clearly states the PT can refer to a word or phrase and "Estrela (footballer)" is a phrase. This player is therefore the primary topic for footballers named Estrela, since if you re-read Wilson Constantino Novo Estrela and see for example NFT (amongst several of the external links in the article) you will see his common name was Wilson (so arguably a RM there too). Fenix down (talk) 08:28, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- "Estrela (footballer)" is not a phrase, it is a Wikipedia creation per recommendations on how to parenthetically disambiguate titles. The phrase portion would be the portion outside of the parenthetical disambiguator (ie "On the day of the Fourth" is a phrase ; "On the day of the Fourth (Australia)" is a disambiguated title with a disambiguator "(Australia)" attached to a phrase). By definition anything that is disambiguated is not a primary topic. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 03:57, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
