Talk:VCU Rams men's soccer

Split

The article is about 180kB which according to WP is too long to comfortably read, meaning that we should look into splitting the article into numerous articles. Thoughts? I think the sections on seasons and all-time records should be split into their own articles. Twwalter (talk) 19:58, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@Twwalter: You're absolutely correct that the article is too long. It appears a lot of WP:NOTSTATS now reside in this article, which per NOTSTATS and WP:DISCRIMINATE should not be included as it doesn't provide encyclopedic information as explained in WP:NOTEVERYTHING. @GauchoDude: Yeah having all these stats residing in an article is necessary and could violate WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Perhaps make an article like this or, more specifically to the sport, this? Perhaps make a of VCU Rams men's soccer, 1990-99, 2000-09, etc? Twwalter (talk) 21:22, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Edit - If that's still too much, we could always look to this for VCU soccer seasons articles, since there's clearly a lot of viable information put into the table of seasons. Twwalter (talk) 21:25, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@Twwalter:While it's certainly something to review, I would agree your example above or something with a smidge of prose like List of Arsenal F.C. seasons might do the job. The list of seasons is covered to an extent already within the article at VCU Rams men's soccer#List of seasons. In my opinion, the vast majority of everything from the 2001 section through the VCU Rams men's soccer#Player movement 2 section adds little to no value. To me, it seems as though Quidster4040 is attempting, again, to skirt an AfD decision they don't agree with as can be seen at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1978 VCU Rams men's soccer team, who then was later reprimanded for re-creating said articles after the fact. @GauchoDude: - While I can certainly see an argument for individual articles, since it could meet WP:SEASONS under certain conditions, it looks more to me like @Quidster4040: was merging the deleted articles to the main article since there wasn't enough info for them to be standalone, which I think is fine and might meet WP:LISTN. We can wait and see what Quidster says, and maybe subsequently make a List of VCU Rams men's soccer seasons or VCU Rams men's soccer, 2000-2009. Thoughts @Quidster4040:? @Twwalter: @Quidster4040: it would not pass under WP:NSEASONS, which is the team season notability criteria, nor would it pass under the overarching WP:GNG, hence the deletion of the original articles via AfD as adjudicated by @Fenix down:. GauchoDude (talk) 22:55, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
