Seeking Information on USS Asheville

edit

If you have any information on the USS Asheville (SSN-758) please send it to me at subman758@aol.com. I would really like to complete the list of COB's, and Find out the Missing XO's Names.--Subman758 (talk) 05:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to update the Awards section. Also if you have any pictures, and would like them posted, we can also do a Photo Gallery.--Subman758 (talk) 05:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you are a crew member of the USS Asheville, I welcome your input, but please respect this page. I am a former crew member of the Asheville, and I would like to keep this page up to Asheville Standards. Thank You.--Subman758 (talk) 05:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Remember what WP:OWN says. -MBK004 16:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let's not kill the goose "Idioms: kill the goose that lays the golden eggs".. Compare this article with the flagship of the Los Angeles class--a ship that certainly has more publicly verifiable references than Asheville--and I think we can agree that some data without citations is still valuable. If we must, mark <fact, citation needed, etc.> so innocent readers will be warned, but at least the framework for improvement is in place.

Perhaps the roster of XO and Goat Locker are bordering on trivia, though. Respectfully Subman758, wikipedia might not be the best venue for your intentions (e.g.; is the roster of XO and Goat Lockers on other boats significant to you?) but I do appreciate your contribution. I'm not Navy, I'm Air Force, but nevertheless, do you really think that publicly identifying your shipmates on something that can (and is) read globally by anybody is a good idea? If this were my unit my CO would have my hide for this. Just something to think about, fella. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.213.207.141 (talk) 23:25, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Historical value?

edit

Much of the narrative in the history section of this article is of no historical value. I question whether future generations will be enriched by the knowledge that on a day in August 1999, the crew ate hamburgers, or that in April 2000, they went swimming. Thest things may be true and relevant, but constitute a level of detail appropriate only for letters to Mom, not for an encyclopedia entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.14.46.66 (talk) 17:32, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
