I've started a new edit of this article, trying to incorporate existing sources as best I can. Don't quite know what to do about this statement and its source: Arthur Woollgar Verrall placed the lifetime of Tyrtaeus in the middle of the 5th century BC.<reference Classical Review, July 1896, May 1897.. I suspect it refers either to an Athenian Tyrtaeus (poet) or maybe a Spartan-born general, but I don't know. Either way, the source is very old. I'd dump it except it links to a scholar notable enough to deserve an article of his own. I'll leave it here for rescue when and if the need is felt. McZeus (talk) 13:01, 28 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Holding secure in his grasp haft of his sword or his spear!"

Should this be shaft?

A quick dictionary check will answer your question. - Eponymous-Archon (talk) 18:04, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

The words "haft" and "shaft" both have the same meaning, they just have different spellings. The word haft is correct in this sentence.

No, a haft and a shaft are completely different things. A sword doesn't have a shaft. Kanjuzi (talk) 19:05, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
