Non-notable people
editGenerally, I don't think we should include names of non-notable (per WP:BLP) unless there is an encyclopedic reason to do so. While BLP does not apply to this article directly, we need to be mindful of the effect on them. Generally, they should be excluded. I have removed them for now. If there is a consensus to include them, they can be added back but in particular I think we need to be mindful of WP:BLPNAME, WP:BLPCRIME and perhaps WP:AVOIDVICTIM.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 01:18, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- I think you're correct that non-notable people should be excluded from the article. The issue in this case is that many of the individuals involved (particularly the corporate billionaires) currently lack English-language Wikipedia pages, but otherwise meet/exceed the criteria for notability. I don't think that there is harm in including the names of notable individuals even if they currently lack pages, but if you prefer to remove them for the time being to be safe that seems reasonable.
- I will very slowly populate English-language pages for the individuals involved who meet notability criteria and re-add names/links as that occurs. It's going to take a long time. Appreciate any help if you have some to spare! ScienceMan123 (talk) 13:42, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- You may be right. I hadn't heard of most of the people named before. Just because I don't know them, doesn't mean they aren't notable or worthy of their own articles though. I would recommend you have a good read of the notability guidelines and specifically WP:ONEEVENT if you haven't already. It would be a shame to spend time creating new pages, only to have some of those articles deleted, if they don't meet our notability rules.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 14:15, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing me towards WP:ONEEVENT, I will keep it in mind when interpreting the notability guidelines. ScienceMan123 (talk) 17:31, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
