Abortion stance

edit

Ssnape19 I think abortion is an important topic. But I'm not sure I completely agree with this edit. The three sources given in the abortion section are: Parliamentary transcript (which is not a WP:SECONDARY source), and CLC and Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada, which don't seem like the most reliable sources either. Could we find reliable and secondary sources for Kmiec's positions and activities on the topic of abortion? Thanks, VR talk 12:36, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I added additional sources. If you checked the link, it isn't a parliamentary transcript but a record of voting (and is both a primary and secondary source from a very reputable source). In Canada the CLC and ARCC are well known and recognized federal organizations that are often at Parliament Hill and are credible secondary sources (despite the webpage that could indeed be updated). I've also added more secondary sources confirming the stance. I would actually include all of the further votes in the House of Commons on all abortion bills, but I wanted to keep the page straight forward, clean, reliable, and to not over-clutter it with unnecessary additions or opinions. awhitefirely (talk) 17:01, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ssnape19: CLC founded the site LifeSiteNews; there is consensus that that website is not a reliable source. So I doubt the community would regard CLC to be very reliable either. The Parliament voting record is reliable, but it is not a WP:SECONDARY source and can't be used to establish WP:WEIGHT. You added something from albertapolitics.ca, but that looks like a WP:SELFPUB source by David Climenhaga, which is not appropriate for a BLP like this one. The final source is Press Progress, and I agree that that is an appropriate source. But all it says it that Kmiec is endorsed by CLC for his anti-abortion positions.VR talk 19:22, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
