Religious conversion

Details of his religious conversion are worthy of inclusion, especially if there is a reliable source. I have removed this statement, as it would definitely need a source, and shouldn't include the self-reference: "His religious conversion was the same type of evangelical experience that happened to John Wesley and C. H. Spurgeon, whose articles appear on Wikipedia describing their conversions." In general, this article still needs a lot of help. Ἀλήθεια 13:53, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Possible copyright violations

I don't think any copyright was violated in this article. I am EMarley and have been involved in this article.

The list of papers that Dr. Lin wrote was not taken from the website linked to. I saw the papers in physical form give to me from a man who was a disciple of Dr. Lin for 24 years and learned to do pastoral ministry from him. I simply put in the list of titles from the papers he had. Then I linked to the site without using any of their own written content. Just a simple link to direct people there.

On the "obituary," I got this information from this ministerial disciple and Timothy Lin's family. Nothing was copied from the Los Angeles Times obituary. In fact, this minister and Dr. Lin's son put together the information that went into the obituary, from their long relationships with Timothy Lin. So there is a common source here, but no violation of copyright, no copying from the Los Angele Times.

So I think the Wikipedia article is legitimate.

Please let me know what you think about this. No violation was intended, and I don't think any violation was committed. Thank you for your time and consideration.

@EMarley: Please read the guidance on WP:Copy-paste. As you have said, "there is a common source." Content should not be copied from any other source. According to the above guidance, "Wikipedia articles must be written in the author's own words." Please rewrite in your own words rather than basing it on this common source. I hope this is helpful. I have tried hard to be honest about this. I did not think it was a violation to give the titles of the articles without quoting from them. But now I have permission from the website owner to put the titles and the link to that website into the article. So I don't think there is a copyright violation here, if ever there was.

@EMarley: firstly, I do not think the main concern is the list of works. My personal opinion and practice on Wikipedia (which may differ for others) is that I would list only works which are books, as opposed to every single essay (e.g., 2-5 pages long). So I would personally cull the list to the key books produced by the subject (see, for instance, Watchman Nee#Publications).

The more pressing issue which is raised by the various copyright reports are that much of the biographical data is quite similar to material on the BSMI and obituary websites. My suggestion would be to simply rewrite the material and properly use inline citations to back up those statements. There is a list of further reading, but no references section – I have started one for the article. Also, the article needs to be rewritten from a neutral point of view, which I have tried to do with the lead. I hope that is helpful. --Caorongjin (talk) 23:26, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

web features for text analytic comparison and proocessing

Good morning, about the disclaimer related to a possible copyright infringement, it can be used one of the web tools available for anaytic text comparison.

At this link, it was copied WP questioned article in the bo "text 1", and the external source [1] in box "text 2". This is the object linked in the second template:copypaste at the top of the page. By the mentioned comparison we get commonalities of text in respect of text 2, shown in pink colour, that are the following:

1. "In 1940 he came to the United States for the first time to study Hebrew and Greek at Concordia Theological Seminary and Washington University in St. Louis."
2. "He was a professor in the graduate school of Bob Jones University, where he taught Systematic Theology, Biblical Theology, Old Testament Hebrew, Biblical Aramaic, Classic Arabic, and Peshitta Syriac."
3. "In 1961 Lin became the interim pastor of the First Chinese Baptist Church of Los Angeles, a church of about 80 members. In 1962 he became the permanent pastor. (some words of the sentence not copied)"
4. "He served as the president of China Evangelical Seminary in Taiwan."

Maybe the WP policy fix a percentage of "reusable" external more conservative than what is provided by the national law. Some words in text A are shown in pink colour, even if they aren't a full sentence:

1. " China Evangelical Seminary in Taiwan." (list 3)
2. " In 1962 he became" (page 4)

This kind of software are hopeful not only in case of suspect of copyright violation (or infringement). May be that some of the software listed here will cover a wider range of possible needs of data mining or text mining, such as a the proposal of a taxonomy and hierarchical dictionary (based on "old" lists of frequency), the idenfication of a title/main topic and human-oriented high-level categorization, the eleboration of structured relating the textual inputs to the created metadata.--Micheledisaveriosp (talk)
