editNot finding anything on what happened to Tiller after September 1980, just more sources mentioning in passing that he was a "grass specialist" and that he beat John Henry. If I find anything, will post. Montanabw(talk) 20:32, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- No findings in the usual sources. I will check the ASB, but it is not that helpful for geldings. We have a Blood-Horse collection going back to the 60s but it is not indexed and is a pain to search, but I will see if I can find anything after September 1980. - No dispatch in B-H states that he was euthanized in the 4 months after the race. He was noted as being "comfortable" after the race, so there is a chance he lived a long time after. ASB wasn't helpful. Froggerlaura ribbit 00:29, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for your work on this article. Compare the lack of info to the extensive coverage given to the ultimately fatal injuries sustained by Barbaro and St Nicholas Abbey (and Tiller was probably a better racehorse than either of those two). Different times, I suppose. Tigerboy1966 18:42, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Being a gelding may also have been a factor; recall there was much news coverage of the attempts to save Ruffian (horse) in that era. Montanabw(talk) 05:40, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
