Boroughs
editHiya, I gonna move the boroughs following the format, as an example Centenario, Tijuana to Centenario Borough, Baja California, as well with the other metropolitan boroughs of the Baja Californian cities.--Jcmenal (talk) 16:57, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Boroughs are only part of the city
editA certain user feels that the City of Tijuana occupies the same territory as Tijuana Municipality. However, it truth, the city only occupies northern areas of the municipality. Of the thirteen or so boroughs in the Municipality, nine are within the city limits. The text at the Tijuana Municipality article supports this. It seems quite fitting that this article remain in its present state do adequately represent the boroughs and to remain as a platform for expansion on the boroughs of the city. 08OceanBeachS.D. 21:02, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- The official website of the Tijuana municipal government shows just 9 boroughs, not 13. The nine boroughs comprises the whole municipality are like the boroughs of the other municipalities in the state, while the borough seat might be part the metropolitan area or not.--Jcmenal (talk) 22:34, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Correct me if I am wrong, but would you be saying that the city occupies the same space as the municipality? If that is the case, which I do not believe it is, then why would the area and population of the city - occupying 245 sq miles with a population of 1.3 million - not be the same as the municipality - occupying 340 sq miles with a population of roughly 1.6 million? This leads me to suggest that there are more than nine boroughs, or, that some of the boroughs are not within the limits of the city. 08OceanBeachS.D. 06:27, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- No at all, what I'm saying is that the nine boroughs occupies all the ~880 sqkm of the municipality, while the urban zone of the city has a minor area, however, all the Borough seats are part of the metropolitan area. In Baja California, the boroughs are a subdivision of the municipalities: Ensenada has 24 boroughs +2 sub-boroughs, Mexicali has 14 boroughs + city area, Tijuana has 9 boroughs, Tecate has 6 boroughs + city area, Rosarito has 2 boroughs + city area. Rosarito was once a borough of Tijuana. Other boroughs projected to succeed to become municipalities, are San Quntin (in Ensenada), San Felipe (in Mexicali).--Jcmenal (talk) 01:10, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Tijuana Municipal Government Official website --Jcmenal (talk) 01:26, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. If not all nine boroughs are under the jurisdiction/city limits of the city, than which are? Possibly, those not under the city can be moved from this article to the municipality article. 08OceanBeachS.D. 08:16, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, the boroughs are under the municipality jurisdiction, all the borough seats are under the city limits, but the southern ones and Playas have rural zones. Thats why all the boroughs shouldbe in the Municipal article.--Jcmenal (talk) 17:01, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
I restored the boroughs section in the municipal article, making this article unnecessary, if you agreed to redirect this article to the borough section, make the change. Cheers.Jcmenal (talk) 14:48, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Could you supply a source showing the boroughs occupying the whole municipality. Last time I checked the website showed a map of the boroughs strictly within the city limits. It would appear they have changed the site and the information has been moved somewhere else. 08OceanBeachS.D. 00:51, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- See the link above, see the delegaciones section on the right menu "Accesos directos".Jcmenal (talk) 06:02, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- My understanding is that there are only nine boroughs in the municipality and that those boroughs are strictly under the city limits of Tijuana and do not extend pass the city limits. This would mean that outside of the city limits of Tijuana there are no designated boroughs. I have been led to conclude this due to the fact that the map of boroughs at the municipal site shows the boroughs within the limits of the city. 08OceanBeachS.D. 01:11, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yes and No, the municipality is subdivided into 9 boroughs, but they are not strictly under the city limits of Tijuana, as the city grew up the metro area included the borough seats one by one, however, not all the area designated of the boroughs is an urban zone, some parts are a rural zone or still unpopulated but belonging to a borough.Jcmenal (talk) 06:02, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
I checked the link you posted above, and it is the city site for Tijuana. The header and footer of the website both read City of Tijuana, in which case the boroughs listed would only be of the city and not the municipality.
- The website is for the ayuntamiento, there is no official city website.Jcmenal (talk) 03:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
