editThere's a question about Thomas Ruffin Gray's notability; his Confessions of Nat Turner -- and questions about how much he wrote versus how much Nat Turner wrote them -- have captured the attention of historians and literary scholars for years. I believe he deserves independent attention; to redirect this to the Nat Turner rebellion doesn't give the chance to have significant discussion and attention to Gray.
