Thirtieth?
editWe don't know whether it will be 30th or 31st, and nobody is using either name yet. WP:COMMONNAME and WP:CRYSTAL are against the title, so I've moved it. jnestorius(talk) 15:36, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think it more than likely to be the 30th but I agree that it is crystal balling. In reality the name "Irish European Fiscal Compact referendum" provides a better template for this article which is more about the referendum than the bill. The same goes for previous referendums. — Blue-Haired Lawyer t 15:59, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- We have separate articles for referendum and amendment if and only if multiple referendums are held on the same day. I think that is stupid, but others have claimed it is somehow useful. Presumably this article should be in {{Amendments of the Constitution of Ireland}} as well as {{Irish elections}}. jnestorius(talk) 11:26, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Could you respect the outcome of the discussion? or does your opinion somehow take precedence over others? Snappy (talk) 16:27, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Depends what you mean by "respect" and no, respectively. jnestorius(talk) 19:08, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- If you don't know what the word respect means, then look it up on Wiktionary. I don't agree with the current name of this article, but there is a consensus for it, so I don't continue to bitch and moan about it, or call it "stupid". Snappy (talk) 21:28, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

- I was thinking more on the lines of moving:
- 'Twenty-eighth Amendment of the Constitution Bill, 2008 (Ireland)' to 'First Irish Lisbon referendum',
- 'Twenty-fourth Amendment of the Constitution Bill, 2001 (Ireland)' to 'First Irish Nice referendum', and
- 'Tenth Amendment of the Constitution Bill, 1986 (Ireland)' to 'First Irish divorce referendum'
- — Blue-Haired Lawyer t 12:03, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- I see. You may be right about those particular ones. I don't think it generalises to other failed referenda, but of course there is no requirement that all articles in a Category have names in the same format. As time goes by, the general public forgets about the topic, while the specialists who remember are more likely to use the formal/official name rather than an adhoc description. Some of the successful amendments might be moved on the same basis ("Irish Nice II referendum"?) but I have no strong opinions. jnestorius(talk) 18:07, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

An extension to this discussion is now taking place over at Talk:Irish constitutional referendum, November 2012. — Blue-Haired Lawyer t 09:35, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
