editI've added the talk page template for WP:LABOR. This article would seem to fall in that project's scope, given the content regarding the Thibodaux Massacre. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:48, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

editERROR: James Major was a Confederate officer, not a Union officer. This is easily seen by the link to his biography provided by the reviser. He would hardly have been in charge of a Union retreat, since he was on the other side!
ERROR: The reviser misstates the date of the so-called Thibodaux Massacre as November 22 rather than November 23, 1887. The precipitating event, the ambush and wounding of two pickets by black strikers, is conveniently omitted. The reviser further claims that "at least 50" and possibly "hundreds" of black persons were killed, without any supporting documentation of this "fact." Reference to John DeSantis's detailed book, The Thibodaux Massacre, and multiple contemporary newspaper accounts suggest that the death count did not exceed 35.
