The Westin Hotel is located in Dhaka which happens to be the capital of Bangladesh. However, on its webpage there is no e-mail address and all the prices are in US Dollars instead of the official currency of Bangladesh, the Taka. Moreover, when 'Staycations' are announced [in November’s Star Lifestyle two weeks ago] there are very vague details about 'amenities and benefits' whatever these may be. [Due to the corona pandemic guests would of necessity be confined to the hotel premises and it would be reasonable to expect to know what 'amenities and benefits' are open and available to guests.] [5 Restaurants, with 4 closed due to lack of staff?] For instance, it says that cable TV is available in every room but not how many channels are there. Then there is pay per view probably referring to movies that are available on extra payment. In one recent offer last month there was a mention of "Full Board Staycation" including all meals [lunch and dinner according to a set menu, does that mean rice and lentil soup? or is there a choice? But drinking water is not provided and has to be bought separately, even in the room. Local or Evian/Perrrier at Tk. 350/- per 500 ml bottle? Doesn’t say] at Tk. 15,000/- net per night for apparently two people/a couple. A single landline number was mentioned for contacting the hotel but there was no mobile number. What kind of fraud are the hotel people running? There was a similar offer in October which was valid until Oct 31, 2020. There the details were even vaguer and a mobile number was mentioned for making reservations without getting any further necessary information. There was also no other detail on the webpage which had not been updated. It would really be appreciated if your esteemed newspaper arranged with the concerned hotel to provide at least an e-mail address for any such offers in future so that the hotel can be contacted directly. A telephone conversation is never satisfactory because you never know who the person taking the call is. This is just for your kind information and not for publication. If you feel it will do any good you may pass on a copy of this e-mail to Westin, Dhaka. [1]Abul Bakhtiar (talk) 09:24, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
